Those homemade “gatling” gun that people build by using like a quantity of 12 .22 guns. How does it fire when you crank it? Does it pull the trigger in some way or something. Does anyone have plans they can send me?

Yes, they pull the trigger, usually using a rotating cam system. Basically, the crank becomes the trigger (the individual triggers become not much more than transfer bars), and each segment of the turn of the handle becomes an operation of the trigger. Only when you become lazy and decide to install an "electric motor or alternate power source" (supposedly, you could convert an old water mill wheel :p ) does it become a machine gun.

Edit: Original post changed. Modified mine to suit. *shrug*

Oh i researched them and knew they are legal but anytime anyone posts a questions like this there are always a lot of people who put there two cents in about it not being safe, if you have to ask then you aren't smart enough and shouldn't build one. Always get those and I hate when people post something like that because its a huge waste of time, it doesn't answer my questions at all and they don't know me and have no right to tell me if i am qualified to make it or smart/responsible enough to use it safely. Just annoys the hell out of me.

I have to agree. Bad grammer and puncuation, as well as bad spelling, take away from the message.

Hey Bogie - been eatin' gorilla bisquits lately? Heh heh...

Biker:)

Bad grammar, punctuation and spelling do take away from the message but answers stating the obvious do nothing to add to it (ok maybe a little humor from walkalong). If you don’t have anything good to say….

To answer your question

If you’re a machinist take a look at this one http://www.gatlingguns.net/ it’s very nice you’ll need a lathe, mill, rotary table (with indexing plates) and a tig welder as a minimum. If you don’t have the above but did put together a few models as a kid http://gatlingguns.com/indexframeset.html has what you’re looking for. As above manual operation only or you’re breaking the law.

I always wanted to make a Gatling gun out of some cheap straight pull bolt actions like the K31s......
Then they were no longer $75 a piece and I gave up dreaming about it........
Then I discovered Steyr Mannlichers were straight pull bolt actions too and still cheap. :D

The cocking and camming is easy to figure out, but I just can't figure a really good way to feed from a single magazine yet.

Do you know what annoys the BLEEP outta me?

LEARN SOME GRAMMAR!!! Maybe a little punctuation? Spelling?

And there's this thing called "search." And there's the whole damn internet.

Sigh.

I don't know about the OP but, not everybody here has English as their first language.

Before you start in about grammar take a look at your own post.

Do you know what annoys the [expletive deleted] out of me? People who do not use proper punctuation, capitalization and grammar annoy me. When they spell things incorrectly, it also makes me quite irate. The internet also has a device called a "Search Engine" and there are several types, from many different providers. When people fail to use that, it makes me angry as well. The whole entire internet makes me angry, in fact.
I am now sighing from exasperation over these problems.

There, Bogie, I fixed your punctuation, grammar, capitalization and spelling. I also took the liberty of putting the entire paragraph into the same person, and made some of the common words more colorful.

Isn't "whole" and "entire", both used in the same sentence to describe the same thing, a bit redundant?

The Gatling Gun was classified as a "manually operated, repeating firearm" as I recall. It never was a machine gun.

BTW, interested parties might take a look at Major, later Colonel George Chinn's book, actually books on automatic weapons. According to the text, the Gatling Gun was a TOE weapon of the U.S. Army as late as 1911, which kind of surprised me.

Also, some years back in Gun Week, I came upon an ad for an estate sale, containing a large number of guns. Included therein were, as I recall, several Gatling Guns, at least one in 30-06. That too surprised me.

The Gatling company made at least one electrically powered Gatling gun in the 1890s.

Hey Bogie you're a idiot, nothing in my entire post is spelled wrong, and excuse the hell out of me that I don't use proper punctuation. I didn't know I had to be perfect on here. Also I did "search" but hey its stupid of me to also ask on a forum, because technically that is a search for information on what I am asking. Also isn't the entire point of a forum to ask questions?? Isn't that the purpose of one?? Plus what the hell is wrong with asking even if you found some information on the net, they might know something i didn't find. Or can give a recommendation on how to go about things or build them. Learn a lot if someone else has done what you are asking and they have tips, problems they ran into. I must be a moron for trying to learn and find out everything i possibly can when doing something. So screw off. You are a major waste of time as your post didn't answer anything so don't post at all. My bad thinking if i had a gun question I should ask it on a site that is its whole purpose. So why don't you just go live in a cabin in the woods and leave people alone? Dick

Why is perfect grammar, spelling, and sentence structure even a problem? Who cares? Bogie you are just a waste of skin.
