Most of the rounds would not eject. But the ones that did. Landed on the bench next to the rifle. Im going to bump up my loads by a 1/2 grain. And some up 1 grain. And test those.

Actually it should be part of the original thread talking about changing out Ruger parts in you Mini-14, I saw this before I saw that one.

Most accurate mini14 load I know of uses around a start load of H322.
Probably wouldn't cycle.
The port drilled into the barrel should be about 0.05'' on my new barrel in drilled mine out to 0.062'' so I could run RE7 loads, which I still haven't tested yet.

Instead of changing my bushing, I cut 5.5" off the barrel! Gas system is now perfect:)
A gunsmith in know that used to work on them says every inch you cut off the barrel if you're lucky will shrink groups by an inch at 120yd. I'm pretty sure he was talking about factory ammo.

Mine shoots better for sure! 60 yards, Tech rear sight:)

The above mentioned 5.5" barrel reduction sounds about right then. Shrink groups by 5" to get MOA out of a couple I've had.

Well thank you guys for the tips. But right now I do need someone to send me a link to buy scope rings for the Mini-14. Where and how do I find them ?
Depends on which you have. Mine had the Ruger rings, some put rails on. What kinda rings do you need? I had a small hollow mount that clamped on where the Ruger integrated rings would so you could use Weaver or picatinny type.

I have a black poly stock for mine, and would like to see how it groups with it. The factory folder is not a good stock for tiny groups! The 18.5" whip that I cut down, was notably less accurate.

Mine came with steel rings.

I just need straight rings to go on there. Nothing too fancy like a mount, just need the rings that clamp unto the mounts already machined into the receiver.

How much did the clamp converter cost though?

Wasn't much...$30 or so IIRC. If I can find it I'll send it to you. Wouldn't work on my Target model and I was having lots of trouble getting the right ring combination for a 42mm objective. Finally got the right rings on eBay. This is what the mount is

I didn't need a clamp converter
It's only real purpose is to allow use of open sights along with a scope. The tube is only like 3/8" diameter, so it has less field of view than a scope.
