How do you organize gear so you know what's in which bag?

Or for example, AC adapters for various electronics. Over time I've lost track of which adapter goes with what. I've got a label maker and I'm labeling the adapters now, so that problem is solved.

I have all my AR15 magazines in one bag. The label's adhesive backing won't stick to the canvas. I tried covering the label with some transparent shipping tape but it won't adhere to the canvas either. I could just write AR15 magazines with a marking pen but I like the neatness of the label if I can find a transparent tape or plastic that will cover and hold it to the canvas.

Any ideas?

If you want to semi-permanently mark the bag, you could have it embroidered onto the canvas. It's easy to undo the stitching, but would get costly if you change your mind too often. :D

You could try sewing on one of those plastic "windows" that you can slip a card into, and mark the cards.

get some luggage tags. a clear plastic sleeve with a loop. wrap around the handle of your bag, insert the sleeve through the loop and pull. put your label in the sleeve.

i'm not clear on why you're bagging AC adapters with ar15 mags though.

Simple. I'm not. I'm putting adhesive labels on AC adapters which indicate what device the adapter is for. Then, I don't have to try to figure it out later when an adapter becomes inadvertently separated from a device.

I'm trying to figure out how to label bags to indicate content but my labels' adhesive won't stick to the fabric.

I'll look around for luggage tags. Thanks.

hmmm...

any way to sew/glue on some velcro pieces? they sell that cheap "cut your own velcro" so you could make labels "AR-15 mags" or "Bore Snakes" or whatever.

that way, you don't permanently mark your bag and gives you the flexibility to re-label.

I have one of those "dymo" label makers at work that i use to mark most things. i bet they'd stick well to the back of velcro, at least for a good while.

byron, if you want to do it cheap, just walk up to the counter at your local airport and grab a handful of them.

or you could make your own with a rubber band and piece of construction paper.

or you could just use a different adhesive. e.g. rubber cement
