Gen 4 Glock 17 -- Made in USA

I think WildCat nailed it. The well paying jobs remain in Austria for pretty much everything, you can bet on it. In addition, they are probably saving themselves a lot of money and trouble with importation of firearms.

Regardless of your politics, you need to follow the money and most of the money off that product, is flowing back into Austria folks. They are NOT an American company. Neither is Honda, Toyota, Nissan or Mazda.
It don't matter if you think the good jobs are in Austria or whether the money flows back to Glocks bank account there. When that Georgia Glock employee cashes his check on Friday. That's really all that matters. Having an entry level manufacturing job at a company like Glock is a great stepping stone to a better job in manufacturing. You have to start somewhere.

Thank you for the endorsement. I am working on my PhD in economics right now. Glad I could make some sense out of the study.

It *does* matter that the worker gets a paycheck. Absolutely right. However, that is where it stops. Menial work alone (which no doubt assembling a Glock is) does not sustain worker growth. These types of jobs just hold until technology can replace. Auto industry is a great example. China is a great example of a country with menial jobs. They raise a lot of people out of poverty but that alone is where it stops. High skilled jobs (design) creates more high skilled jobs AND the menial jobs.

Education in universities and trade tech is about the largest multiplier effect, dollar for dollar, than anything available to increase a countries income.

Glock made in USA? great. Don't bet America's future on that nor assume you did America a huge favor by purchasing it. That gun would have been purchased regardless of origin.

They have been assembling parts in GA for many years for export to countries that do not have trade relations with Austria. So that's nothing new.

Im still thinking they are not producing anything other than a stamp on imported parts.

We are talking about Glock here... LOL. Their idea of design is take the same thing shorten a little here, a little there, and give it a new number.

Exactly. New and innovative ideas haven't really came from Glock since they actually designed the original Glock 17.
