I want to add a glock to my collection, but im torn, I have a G17 and a XD45, so i was thinking of a gen4 G19 or a gen3 G21. Which one would you get and why? thanks for the feedback

Since you already have a couple of .45's and the SP101 is the only thing in your signature that sounds like it'd be comfortable to carry, either a G19 or G26, Gen3 or Gen4 whichever you prefer.

They make a Gen4 G21 now, you just have to look really hard for them.

Last time I checked, Specialty Sports & Supply in Colorado Springs had decent prices, $520 for the average Gen3 with fixed plastic sights. The Gen4's and .45's will cost a little more.

The intended purpose for the gun will be the major factor in a gun purchase. If your looking for a carry gun then the g19 will be easier to conseal but the 21 has alot more punch. If your looking for a range gun then size doesnt matter but the cost of reloading componets/ammo does. I have a 27 for most of time carry in IWB, A 23 and 22 for jacket weather, a 642 and a p3at when none of the above will not work.

^^There's a guy on another forum who's tried the 0-4-2 already, he's never had any malfunctions even using the 0-3 but he still gets erratic ejection and brass to the face no matter what he tries. He'll even get an occasional piece of brass eject over the left side of the gun.

^^yeah, he's got a bad extractor. i had to change those out in my gen3 and gen4 glocks to solve erratic ejection and occasional FTF's.

there's a bunch of bad ones out there, and glock keeps making them. i think many of the gen4 issues may not have been the recoil spring strength, but rather the out of spec extractors.

^^He tried the extractor too. Another factory extractor, a LWD 9mm LCI extractor, the 0-4-2 guide rod, hot ammo, higher grain ammo, different magazines, a different factory extractor depressor plunger assembly, a White Sound Defense HRED EDP assembly, and reprofiling ejectors a couple of different ways. AND all of those things in every combination he could think of. With all the effort he's put into getting it running right he probably could've just bought another gun.

He had a little more success with one of the reprofiled ejectors, but was still getting some brass to the face.

^^yeah i had to file the tip of my gen3 g19 extractor to the right angle too.

i must have been thinking of a different thread. haven't seen that one, but i have to say WOW, after all that, i think glock owes that poor guy a new gun! lol

Just stick to a Gen3, a used one made before 2010 if you can, lot less of a headache.

I tried 2 Gen4's, both of mine felt good but ran like crap. Doesn't even seem like Glock has them finalized yet with all the different recoil-assemblies they keep releasing and the fact that they forgot how to make quality extractors.

A Glock that you have to tune to make run is just sad.
