Any fellow Georgia or South Carolina residents on here? I hold a GA CWP which is not recognized in SC, but our company does a lot of business in South Eastern SC. I'm there almost every day and hate to leave my gun home.

Are there any states that SC recognizes their CWP that I could get as a GA resident? What are my options for carrying in SC? I havent had the chance to talk to any of their local LE to know. Any help would be great.

Thanks!

After reviewing the gun laws in South Carolina, I would say they are fairly draconian and have found that South Carolina is pretty restrictive in who it lets conceal carry in its state. Even legal carriers have a lot of restrictions where they can carry. South Carolina, more or less, from what I can see is No Issue to out of state residents, except from residents of a few states, such as Tennessee, North Carolina, Virginia and Kentucky. If I am correct, South Carolina recognizes a permit, like an In-State North Carolina permit, but not an Out of State North Carolina permit. You are basically screwed. I was considering moving to South Carolina, because it looked like a state that I thought would be inexpensive, nice scenery, friendly people and conservative. However, after seeing the draconian gun laws I decided against moving or even visiting there. In addition to crappy gun laws, they have crappy pepper spray laws too I learned. Just like California, you cannot carry a larger can of pepper spray than 2 oz. I would have thought more of a state with such a "red state" reputation.

ANyway, the USA Carry map has always been a great resource to me when I am trying to figure out which states permits are recognized where:

From what I can see, if you are not a resident of a state with a conceal carry permit recognized by South Carolina, your 2nd Amendment rights don't apply there.

SC does not recognize any state's non-resident permit. In other words, you cannot get a non-resident permit from ANY state...and carry in SC.

IF...you are are non-resident and own land in SC, you can get a SC non-resident permit...that is the only way that you can live in Ga and carry legally in SC.
