Not sure if this is the right place to post but curious about something. If you have a an NICS check done at a gun dealer and it clears,, But you dont purchase the gun that day and find a better deal at another dealer do you have to run another NICS bk.ground check and pay another fee for that, or is the initial check from the first place still valid as long as its within 30 days? Just curious. Thanks,

Bryan

Dunno, I've never tried it. I imagine you'd have to pay the fee and get the background check run again, since it'd have to be on the records of the store you're buying your gun from.

New dealer new check, the background check ran on you was for the individual dealer who ran the check.

geezer is correct "New dealer new check, the background check ran on you was for the individual dealer who ran the check"
If you are paying for checks in Ga you are getting ripped off they are free since last july.

I didn't have to pay in February but I know the dealer. I used to be if you had a firearms license you didn't have to do the NICS but Georgia hasn't bent to the ATF requirements on licenses so it's NICS for everyone!

I don't think the dealer would take your money before the NICS check is done. Of all of the guns I have bought new, the 4473 had to be filled out and the NICS check called in before the dealer asked for money and the sale was rung up.

I hve never paid a specific dollar amount for a check, or at least have never seen the price tag on a gun that shows the gun price and a "second sticker" for the check, so I would think that most dealers include any charge with the price of the gun.

NICS checks do not cost the dealer anything. The Ga carry permit does not meet the FBI requirements of backround checks anymore so it is not good to use for gun purchases anymore.

Apparently everyone's being checked out by NICS until the GBI reconciles with the ATF. Doesn't matter to me. I don't really buy any new guns anymore, I buy from private parties where I can.
