I have been thinking of a new woods knife, something along the lines of a ESEE 3. Then I remembered the knife I found and tossed in my toolbox a few years ago, a Gerber A425. I think it's about 35 years old, made of M2 with a forged aluminum handle.
Does anyone have any insight on this particular knife? Is it still a viable option?

I don't see why it wouldn't serve well. M2 is a rather hard carbon steel, might be a bit tougher to sharpen but should hold an edge very well.

Great knife

Don't baton or pry with M2, but then that's what sharpened pry bars are for.
