I accidentaly left my Sharpfinger at home on a recent hunting trip and had to have a Wal Mart replacement. I settled on the Gerber Freeman. Good choice.

Pouch type leather sheath, AUS-8 steel, finger grooves that are in the right place, and shaving sharp out of the box.

We're in the process of trying to clear some feral hogs out of our hunting land in SE Arkansas, so the knife had plenty of skinning opportunity. After 3 hogs and a doe my mom killed, the knife was still plenty sharp. I touched it up on my dad's Spyderco Sharpmaker just for something to do around the campfire. Easily sharpened back to a hair popper.

Next day had another BIG hog on the ground...never seen this much fat on a feral hog...anyway, the Gerber had no trouble with it. I cheated a little and used a BK7 to split the sternum area on this hog, but otherwise, it was all Gerber.

This thing's a definite keeper for 39 bucks. It's a looker, too.

That's my opinion of it too (and one of the outdoor mags). By far the best bang for the buck of "affordable" knives. My only beef is the leather sheath doen't have a securty snap (Even the Fixed Gator which is cheaper does!). Anyway, it does look like the winner in that price range and even a bit above.
