German Sigs vs American Sigs.

I believe all W German marked guns have proof marks, it’s the Made in Germany guns with no proof marks I’m wondering about. Are they assembled in the US, not proof tested?

I find the NH Sig well made with my samples of the 2022, P229 Enhanced Elite and the 1911. I would like a German made 226.

This almost parallels discussions about various hand tools that have had shifts to other off shore locations from the original homeland. They look the same, can perform similar but now the labor to produce them has made for higher profit margins. With that I'm thinking of the USA made Craftsman polished versions. I don't have the pocket depth for Snap On, etc nor am I a pro wrencher that has to turn nuts-bolts hour after hour. I have some so-so German made hand tools from Wiha and Wera.

That is correct SIGs pistols assembled domestically from parts manufactured in Germany will not have German Proof Marks.

SIG changed their marking from W Germany to Germany after the reunification after the Wall was taken down (1990). There are SIG parts still being used, marked W Germany, after that date as they continued to use up existing stock

I've got 4 Sig pistols, a P226 ex NYPD no rail gun that I converted to TDA from DAO, a P226 SSE Elite (I love all steel guns!), a P220 DAK, and a CPO P229 no rail. A friend has a bunch of German Sigs, ranging from the stamped ones to pretty close to new. I don't see any real quality difference between my guns and his They look a little different, and the stamped guns seem a little differently balanced, but that's just getting used to it to solve any "problems" switching between them might cause. Only one more Sig I want, a P229 SSE. The plastic ones they can keep.
