Well... after a long search for the perfect grip for my S&W model 65 K-frame square butt, I ordered this.

So I'm wondering... does anybody have any experence with this grip? My main motovation is to find grips that are both concealable and shootable. I love the Houge monogrips on there now.... but they print and grip my cover garment.

My new 625JM came with them in N-frame size. They feel great and are a natural fast 'grab'... no fidgeting for finger-grooves, etc. Concealable? No way. They are huge... for concealment, you need boot grips, ie, something which will just cover the gripframe outline. The S&W Service Grips (wood), are available from their accessories section (See S&W's site...) for ~$30 as 'export' stocks. I have them on my 2" M10-11 and they are perfect.

I get the impression that your 65 has a 4" barrel to go with the square butt. The hardest thing to conceal on a gun is the heel of the butt... the lowest, farthest-back corner of the butt. Square butt guns are especially hard to conceal because they protrude back the farthest in this area. And 4" barrels are a little long for good concealability. Your 4" 65 will make a superb home/RV/car defense gun, but doesn't make for the best carry gun...not that you don't have a wonderful revolver there, because you do! But...

If concealment is a primary need for you, you might want to consider adding another gun to your stable, like a M65 , 3" round butt:

Or a 2.5" 66 round butt:

Or a 2" 642 round butt:

These will all be much easier for you to conceal comfortably than a 4" square butt revolver.

Thanks for the replies.

Stainz: I did think they looked a little long but couldn't really tell from the pic on their website. The Monogrip I have on it now is very long yet with it being winter, with the right jacket, I have been able to conceal it. I will be looking into the grips you mentioned.

Dhart: Your absolutly right, a 4" square butt in not a good choice for a CCW peice.... but it happens to be the only real defensive handgun I have (I also have a very nice Ruger MKII govt. model in 22lr with the slabside barrel.) More concealable grips are much cheaper than another gun in the short run. ;) I have been watching for a model 65 or 66 with 3" barrel and round butt but have yet to run across the right deal at the right time. Either that or I go over to the "dark side" and buy a Glock. :uhoh: :D I would prefer to carry a 1911(what feels the best in my hand) but I'm working with a "used service revolver" budget. :D
