    HI everyone,

I got back into plinking and general target practice this last June after a 23 year hiatus. In August I took the NRA handgun safety course -great course and instructor- thanks George. I applied for my CC permit this last July and today I meet with our Sherriff to receive my permit. I'm very excited to be able to carry if i choose to. From reading the posts here at THR I realize it is a sizable responsibility. I don't know if I'll carry every day - I doubt it - but it will be my choice. Thanks to everyone here at THR who has helped educate me about my constitutional rights.

Congratulations! The way to get comfortable with carrying every day is to do it. It doesn't take long for you to feel odd if you're NOT carrying. It becomes a habit.

Now, practice, practice, practice with your carry weapon!

Congrats. Hopefully the Sherriff will approve everything.

At first, carryiing is a little wierd. You feel like everyone can see your CCW and that they are staring at you. Truth is, they have hardly a clue. Only ones that can really tell is other CCW people. We tend to look at the bulges on the hip as something other than a cell phone.

As Springmom suggests, practice with your CCW. No sense in carrying a gun concealed if it takes you 2 minutes to get it out.

Of course you know this but I'd like to reinforce that the weapon should be empty when practicing quick draw methods with your CCW rig. If your range allows drawing from the CCW position I suggest you practice that way also. Draw, aim and double tap. Safe the weapon and relocate back in the holster. Repeat as necessary.
