Get Your Saiga On!

I just said I wasn't going to buy anymore guns until I finish equipping and setting up all the ones I have. However, I would like a 5.45 saiga. It and the 30'06 are the only ones I don't have at least one exemplar of. Another 308 to set up in a totally different way than my other one is tempting at that price as well.

Hmmm . . . new saiga or an aimpoint? I'm starting to feel I really need a 5.45.

I'm tempted to actually buy one.... wonder how hard it is to convert.....

Search the this site and the web, lots of tutorials. Unless you are a total klutz with hand tools you should be able to do it. A drill press helps, but a steady hand on a power drill will work.

I paid $359 each plus shipping for mine... and thought they were good "investments". Goes to show how good I am at investment decisions. :uhoh:

Saigas are "cyclical" since they come in batches. Everybody has them and the price goes down, then they are mostly all sold out and the price goes up. Repeat.

Although the long term trend is up. The first Saiga 7.62x39 I saw was $189, needing to locate and cut the square hole for the pistol grip held me back. The next batch at about $220 had the cutout so I bit.

$289 for a 5.45 saiga while Aim Surplus is selling 2160rd cases of russian surplus ammo for $250...That has to be one of the best combat rifle deals ever.
