Questions:

1 - Since I'll be using mostly corrosive ammo, will it be an advantage if I get a chrome carrier and bolt and firing pin (basically, almost everything I can get chrome in the upper, get it)? Since I'll be getting the gas piston modification, would it really behoove me to get the chrome items in the upper?

2 - KKF either modifies (opens up) an existing bolt or uses unmodified 6.8mm bolts - if I need to go chrome, does anyone make 6.8mm chrome bolts?

3 - Anyone tested out/used the new C-Products 5.45x39 mags yet? I'd rather buy them for $20 than $35-$40 HK mags and then have to spend more modifying them with 6.8mm followers.

If you can wait for it, Smith & Wesson is making an upper in 5.45 that will have chrome lined bolt, carrier, barrel, etc. The only problem is that they were supposed to be shipping in April, but they have been delayed several times and I've still got a crate of 5.45 ammo waiting to be fired :(

I've heard there were similar delays to the c products mags but that was a while ago so they may be shipping now. This will be my first AR so I'm no expert, but from the reading I've done on the subject the corrosive ammo isn't a huge concern to me. I plan to dunk the upper and most of the other parts in hot/boiling water to remove the corrosive salts, then clean and oil. I also have read good things about Eezox as a corrosion inhibitor, so I might pick some up and give all the internal parts a good coating just to be sure.

For what it's worth I called S&W a couple weeks ago to get a bit more info on the upper. The person I talked to said it would be a couple months and they weren't sure if it would be available as a complete rifle or if they would just be selling uppers. They also said that regular AR type magazines would work though some polymer (PMags) might not.
