I want to get an XD9. I want a 9mm, as I do not have one at the moment. I was just planning on getting an XD9, but then I saw that if you get the .40, you can buy a conversion barrel to change it to a 9.

Since I really want a 9mm, I will probably be using the conversion barrel most of the time, and it would also be cool to be able to shoot .40 when I wanted to, with a barrel swap.

The question I have, is that is using the 9mm conversion barrel in an XD-40 just as good as an XD-9? Accuracy? Reliability, etc. etc.

Are there any drawbacks with ANYTHING using a conversion barrel?

Here's a link to the conversion barrel I would get:

Thank you very much,

Plink, this is just a thought...Are you aware SA will introduce the GAP 45 soon in the XD? I know you want a 9mm and may already have all the 45"s,but just thought I would mention it in case you are looking for a small CCW type 45. But 9mm is good also..I have SIG P-239 9mm For CCW and love it.Good luck...

It's a hard choice, I ended up picking up the stainless xd40 used (like new) because I found it and it was inexpensive compared to the others I have seen around. I figured if I want to shoot 9mm, I could get the barrel later. But considering I reload .40 S&W I haven't done it yet. I have been thinking about the same thing for my Glock 22 for a while also, but haven't done it. The idea is tempting, but for almost $150, I could get another Makarov, an NAA Mini Revolver, a Tac Light to attach to the gun, etc.

45 GAP? I don't want a bastard caliber! :D

I'm just kidding. I don't know anything about it, actually.

I just want a 9mm mainly. I have a .357mag S&W, and am planning on also getting a .45 ACP 1911, so, I need something to fill the 9mm gap.

Thanks

I was in the same boat as you are. I bought the XD40 and plan too buy a 9mm barrel in the near future. The XD is one of the best guns I ever bought.

i bought the stainless steel slide xd40 and haven't been dissappointed at all. a friend looking for a 1st gun tried mine out and a glock 17. he ended up buying an all black xd40.
