Before today, I was sure that a XD .357 barrel would just drop in a XD .40. I have done this to several Sigs and Glocks with no problems. Today I picked up a .40 cal service model at my favorite gun shop and asked if he had any .357 barrels for sale. The owner told me that you could not swap barrels on XDs to change from .40 to .357. I told his he was full of crap. The store owner called Springfield and I was advised by them that I would have to use a Barsto “conversion barrel”. I know they make conversion barrels to convert .40/.357s to 9mm and think the Springfield customer rep was just confused.
While in the store, I swapped barrels between the .40 and .357 and everything seemed fine. Of course, I did not load or fire the pistol. What’s the scoop?
