4in LNIB, trading my 10-22 for it. It's a great trade for him and a good one for me since I love .357 revolvers. Never had a Security Six but always wanted one!

bad pic from seller.

Hello friends and neighbors // Smart trade, one IMHO you will never regret.

I enjoy shooting my 4" Security Six as much as any other handgun. No box or papers with mine but it is a shooter.

Yours looks blued in the pic, I have not seen one of those in a long time, nice find.

I like thos security sixes. Cant wait to see pics so I can give you an elctronic high five!

Hello friends and neighbors // My first range visit sighting in the SS Security Six. The grips are a little small and the inner tube strips help.

Shooting close,SA, .357 ,158gr JSP (Independence) ;; 25 feet on the left windage adjustment and 15 feet on the right elevation then windage again, the targets are four inches across the yellow field. Shooting bottom right target both times.

Fun and great for SD too. If yours is a 150 series some grips wil need modified, I got lucky at a gun show and have combat grips now. I had to reshape them a little but more for comfort than fit. I tried Pacymyers made for the SS but they would not work, so be careful. I ended up taking my SS when looking.

Even though it was made in 1977 the edges of the triggger , hammer and cylinder were still sharp and needed a little smoothing.

Hope you enjoy yours as much as I do mine, they are certainly built to last.

Mine was built in may of 1975 so says Ruger...I won't be able to sleep tonight because I have to make the road trip tomorrow to pick it up. It'll be fun though, my gun buddy is going along for the adventure, and the place we are meeting the guy for the trade has the best Green Chili Cheeseburgers on Earth. It is about 1.5hrs to the little town of San Antonio NM from my little ranch. It'll be fun!

Got to love the ruger 6-guns. I passed on a 4" new model blackhawk today that was priced $375 otd. I might be going back for it, I just like the looks of the gp100 with a 6" barrel alt more and buds has one for $399. decisions decisions. You made out good though Sniper.

I have a 2 3/4 inch Security Six that I inherited from my father and a 4 inch Service Six that I bought LNIB for $200...both blue...both put the bullets exactly where I want them to within 30 feet.....

They're good guns, very solid. Slightly bigger than a K-frame, but easier to pack than the big L-frame and GP-100. Personally, I think the -Six series were better built (not stronger) than their replacement. Mine is living with my folks; They're not gun people, but camp and horseback ride alot and had a couple scary incidents that made them realize it might be a good idea. It was my first handgun, bought 3 months after my 18th B-day. It saw alot of use before being adopted by them.

That said, be aware that the -six guns suffer from the same problem that plagued the K-frame Smiths: Light/fast loads will crack the forcing cone at 6 O'clock, where it is thinner to clear the crane/rod. That was one of the things both S&W and Ruger addressed with their larger frame guns. But steer clear of screamin' 110 or 125 gr. loads, and it should last you a lifetime.
