Getting First Gun.

Hello. My friend is planning on purchasing his first firearm. We both live in Illinois outside the city of Chicago. The first rifle he plans on getting is a K-31 with Walnut Stock. He already has a FOID Card, and will be getting his C&R License soon. He doesn't know what other licenses he needs, or how to get his gun to him. He plans on getting it from AIM Surplus who says this about IL. "No Firearms sales to Chicago, Nor all of Cooke County. C&R 03 Licensees may purchase C&R Eligible firearms, however Illinois FOID card must be on file. Check for other Local & State laws before ordering." So if he orders a rifle how does he get it? Do they have to ship it to a gun store for him? Thank you for your time.

I live in IL to. I know you can order them to an ffl...You have to talk to the owner first to see if you can have it shiped there. then your good...I know when i buy ammo i have to send a pic or my drivers license and Foid......

I live in a free state, but I'm pretty sure this is how it will work.

Your friend will go to aimsurplus and order the rifle. They will place a 'hold' on it and give him an order form. Your buddy takes the order form to his FFL and they send the order form and a signed copy of their ffl to aim. Your buddy has to make sure he pays aim though! Then, it gets shipped to the ffl, your buddy picks it up and pays their charge (25 bucks here).

At least that's how it works here ordering stuff like AK's online... or guns that I can't get sent here with my C&R. There are lots of places to get K31's too.. SOG, Century etc...
