We are having a rustic wedding, simple casual deal outside, rural setting.

I am seriously considering carrying my 4" 586 during the cerimony, it is one of my favorites, I found some very Pretty inlaid grips (not practical but pretty) to replace the very practical but not pretty black rubber grips.

I have a good black leather owb under belt holster, again practical, but not quite "Sunday best".

I am thinking stone kind of cowboy rig in black would be a bit dressier, Cartridge loops, nickel plated brass and all would be nice. Does anybody make such that a poor man can afford and does not have a 12 week lead time?

If you were to carry at your wedding how would you?

I'm intrigued by why you are seriously considering carrying at your wedding. Is it a fear that some crazy might crash your party or is it that you're so used to carrying that you just want to do it? Anyhow, best wishes from a fellow Hi-Roader!

Well, you know that part where the Preacher looks out at the throng and asks "if anyone knows of any reason why these two cannot......"? A guy's gotta be ready to do what needs do'in, ain't he? :D

Without knowing your area, social circle, personality, etc it is hard to really say, but personally I wouldn't open carry at my wedding. If for some reason I felt the need to carry at all for such an occasion, I'd keep it small and concealed.

Best man of a buddy getting married pulled a 6 inch N frame S&W from a shoulder holster and pointed it skyward while glaring at the guest when the Preacher asked that question. preacher was aware before hand as were the members of the wedding party.

Most everyone laughed.

We had prepared a broom for them to leap in case the religious based ceremony failed to take. Most folks liked that.

Thank you for your well wishes, I have made the poor girl wait 3+ years, I can push it no further, the father in law is already threatening with his shotgun. in jest of course,....I think? wait.....I hope.

no worries about crazies, just fashion of our own I guess. she wants a rustic old south feel to it, and this just dovetails in.

And what does the WIFE to be say?

she was on board with the idea from the start, then I showed her the grips and she is in love! I have been instructed that I will be buying a new shirt blue green color, new jeans, nice ones, and boots, thinking black bolo tie and a black vest, maybe a jacket.

Look up the term "Barbecue Gun"!

Sometimes a man isn't fully dressed without a fancy sidearm and Sunday-go-to-Meein' rig to carry it in. :)

I have never heard of a BBQ gun but the wedding will in fact be at a Barbecue! father in law is cooking and providing the venue (his back yard) and honeymoon at his time share.

There are some very pretty guns in that link, my station in life will not allow this will not compare. but it will be prettier than the average Glock in kydex. not that there is anything wrong with that, I have friends that carry Glocks in kydex and they really are perfectly nice people.

:D:D:D Thats awesome, I may have to sneak in a bit of those theatrics, turn and face crowd, strum fingers on grip,

not sure I could draw at my own wedding, would defiantly require coordination and double/tripple check of unload/snap cap state.

She wishes his 586 was longer than 4".

:what::cuss:

Its more than four! I will get the tape measure and prove it ! its at least 4 1/8 if you measure to the breach face! :D

besides it has the under lug, and we wall know girth is where it matters! :D

A single action is the proper wedding gun with a nice rig to hold it. Perhaps a mid-size Ruger flattop or Vaquero? Some nice white grips and you're good to go!

My wife would prefer my 8 3/8" magnum.... M29 that is.

Underlug or not, if it's long enough, you can really make her day. :D!!!

If the little lady is OK with it, go for it and when the preacher asks whether anyone objects, just stare him down and make sure he see your right hand on the grips.

No, just load it up with 5 in 1s and start blasting towards the punk who stands up to object!! :)

My dad got married in 1964 carrying two nickel plated SAA's in a Alfonsos of Hollywood holster set. The same set he was wearing at a fast draw competition when he met my mother. Ive got the holsters. Guns are long gone.

Take a look at Simply Rugged holsters. They do embossing and you will have a practical holster as well.

Your right, a single action would be more appropriate, but the only one I own is a 22. And it's a really cheap heritage arms, great for Saturday afternoons, but not "nice".

A Centefire single action just is not in the budget right now, but something I may be able to swing is one of the cap and ball reproductions, I have been wanting to get into black powder for years, never have pulled the trigger.

You guys are enablers!

Very cool!

I had every intention of carrying concealed at my wedding, but a regular holster doesn't work with belt-less tuxedo pants. A should holster would of been a viable option, but by that point, it was the last thing on my mind.

Congrats on the upcoming nuptials! Just remember you don't want too much bling going on with your Model 586 and holster rig; it's really all about the Bride, at least that's what my wife told me!
