Getting Old; Need to Part With Some Rifles

All I can say is that I hope you get what you want out of them. It's always unfortunate when they no longer stay in the family...interest or not. However, you are fortunate that you only have three to unload. Many of us have been "accumulating" for years and have a much larger job ahead of us once we reach that point. I do have a couple of sons who would like some of mine, but many will be headed for the auction block.

I had no idea that the Remington 760 might be worth that much! I have a 760 from somewhere in the '70s in 30-06 with a Weaver K6W scope that I am thinking about selling as I turn 80 by next deer season and have a couple of other deer rifles to use. I may have to advertise a bit.

I would have a sit-down discussion with my relatives concerning at least that 760. Explain why you want it to stay in the family. Maybe you will get a positive response to at least keep it around. Maybe an up and coming Grandson?

I will probably end-up with three groups:

Keep (Family sentimental)

Keep (Collection value)

Sell (If nobody wants)

Of course, I am 46, so who knows what the climate will be like in ~40 years for civilian firearms ownership.

Honestly I didn't get the fascination with the 760s and 7600s till I decided I wanted to customize one for doing deer drives. Then I started reading about "Big Timber" rifles and the Benoit brothers:

It's like a sub-culture in the deer hunting world. Just do a google search for "Big Woods Rifle".

https://www.fieldandstream.com/guns/best-deer-rifles-for-big-woods/

In almost every article I found the 760/7600 get's mentioned.

If you want to use the "Easy Button", find a good LGS, maybe one you have a relationship with, and bring them in and ask them what they'd give you for them. You may not get absolute top dollar, but you can probably do okay and save yourself a lot of running around...and the sale will be much safer.
