Getting rid of my XD9...what to get to replace it?

Sig 226. Excellent reputation for reliability and accuracy. A used CPO can be had under $500 and you get a lot for your money. For me it feels a lot more comfortable than the Glock.

For your price range I'd probably go with the M&P 9mm in full or compact either way as my top choice. But there should be many good options out there for you.

Jesse308, once you own an HK, it will be really hard for you to have other pistols that you feel adequate or come in close terms of reliability and quality of workmanship.

Save up more, and spend wisely. Stop screwing around, Get the HK.

Kahr, you can carry it real easy. Also you can even get it in a larger cal. at the same size.

once again the glock 19 is one of the best choices out there for a smaller gun, Taurus also makes some good ones for the price

The Acadamy in my area sells standard Ruger P95s for 360 dollars. Thats about $388.80 after tax. That leaves you with $111.20 for extra mags and ammo.

There are a lot of great 9mm pistols in the $500 dollar range. I have had good luck with Glocks( 17 and 26), my CZ P-01, and a friends M&P 9mm. Take your pick, you won't be sorry. Good luck with your decision.

I agree...I love mine. At the local gun shows they're selling stainless/decock-only P95 9mms for around 329+tax. These are the new ones with the light rail and textured grip.

Funny, I've owned 4 HKs and sold em all...and I'm much happier with what I have now.

Great guns, but not for me...besides, variety is always more fun. I think a CPO Sig sounds right up your alley.

Thanks for all the replys so far. I think I narrowed it down to either the Glock 17, SIG P226, or the M&P. I'm really leaning towards the Glock though.

what I find strange is a BHP fits, but a CZ doesn't? They are so similar... I don't see how that could be... But, you did just say you "have one," you made no reference to how it fits you...

I don't like the position of the safety on the CZ and its hard for me to get ahold of the low-profile slide.

I'll add that you may want to look at a CZ-75 Compact. I know you said no CZs, but my reasoning follows. My BHP fits me well. Every CZ-75 or 85 I've handled has been a bit tall/long in the grip with a long reach to the safety lever, and they just didn't fit me. A CZ-75 compact recently came into the shop and it's a very nice fit for me. You may want to give the 75 Compact a look if you haven't yet.

I haven't seen a CZ-75 Compact in my area but I have tried out a CZP01 and it wasn't for me. The slide is just too small for me. I'm pretty sure the slide on the CZ-75 Compact is the same as CZP01...correct me if i'm wrong.

What kinda ammo are you shooting when the extractor broke? I'm thinking there may be a problem of too much pressure causing the case to expand in the chamber, thus extra wear on the extractor. This ISN'T YOUR Fault, just trying to diagnose the problem so the rest of us can avoid it, you should be able to shoot whatever ammo you want through your guns without any issues like a broken extractor.

I was shooting Remington UMC 115gr FNEB Leadless because were only allowed to shoot lead free stuff on the dept. range.

If you already have a HKUSPF and BHP in 9mm, why buy another 9mm ? Change it up a little !

I already have other semi-autos in other calibers and only have two 9mm's.

Quit shooting steel cased ammo in your XD and it won't ruin the extractor. It's hard on the extractors of EVERY pistol.

Please tell me where I said I was shooting steel cased ammo in my XD. The only firearms I own that get feed steel cased ammo is my AK's and SKS's.

Gudel, I already have quite a few HK's including a HK P2000 like you recommended but I already have one in .40s&w.

Of course you know I'm going to say G19. I have one. You'll love it. I hear good things about the Sig P239 as well. I guess either would be a good choice. I do want a P239 for myself in the future.
