I have a chance to buy a Gibbs extreme quest in .303. The owner says it shoots 3/4" groups at 100 yds. I already have a no5 mk1, but this one has a scope mount. I need a scope for hunting as my eyes aren't as good as they used to be.

Does anyone know anything about these rifles pro or con. It's made on a no4 mk1 bbld. action and is nickle plated and has a nice wood stock.

I think if it shoots as well as he claims it should be a dandy hunting rifle. I think I can buy it for about $350. delivered (yea, I know that's a little high), but I'm not interested in it as a collector, just for hunting and target shooting.

The price seems good.

Reworked Gibbs .303 rifles catch that price as a retail, no?

With the "extreme quest" version you will most likely get an excellent receiver and some decent assembly.

.75" @ 100 is pretty good.
I'd ask for pictures of the rifle and target and go with what you see.
