I'm looking for a Gibbs rifle in .45-70. Any ideas where I can get my hands on one, or anyone have any reviews of this rife? Much thanks.

First off, I'd like to thank everyone for the valuable info. I got hooked up today with a Gibbs in.45-70. Brand new for $395. I'd also like to thank the friendly folks at Two Wrights Guns. Their excellent service cannot be beat. Special thanks goes out to my good friend "000 Buck" for his insight, research and encouragement (Adam Ant). Now all I have to do is find a good gunsmith to ream it out to .45-90 and I'll be good to go on safari.

I hope you'll follow up with some reviews of your new rifle after you get some trigger time. These have intrigued me but there isn't much information about them out there.

I too have always had a bit of curiosiy about these. Never seen one to check out but was always liking the idea of a 45-70 bolt gun.

Went out to the range Sunday and tried out the new Gibbs .45-70. Excellent rifle. At around 8lbs., there is enough heft there to absorb alot of the recoil. At 100 yds, groups were in a pattern of 2" wide x 7" tall. I'm going to replace the rear sight for better accuracy this weekend. The bolt is smooth, and the magazine can actually hold more than the claimed 3 rounds by Gibbs. I love this big-bore rifle, and I highly reccomend getting your hands on one.
