Gift for a friend after surgery

My very good friend, colleague, and shooting buddy had surgery yesterday to remove a lymph node - may be cancer. Of course I'm very moved and quite concerned so I'm going to visit him today after his release. Interesting... he's a single guy like me. What does one single guy take another single guy after surgery? Flowers? Stuffed animal? Baked cookies?

So I'm taking him AMMO.

He'll appreciate that I can tell you from experience. Just to let you know, I have a cat scan on Monday, to check and see if my cancer has spread or is still dormant, then on oncology appointment on the 18th. You can bring the extra ammo to me, and I assure you we will put it to good use. Have you ever been shooting in the mountains?

I got married two months ago.
Before that, we had a wedding shower and my boss came.
My boss is a good friend and shooting buddy.
He left a present on the table...it was a small box compared to the boxes of dishes, towels, pots and pans, etc.
I opened it and it was a bulk pack of 9mm Win white box.

It may have been the cheapest gift there but it was the best wedding gift
It sure means a lot when it's coming from one gun lover to another.

We built a really nice deck in the back yard last year and had a deck warming party. My boss brought me a 30 rd. PMAG as a deck warming gift.

While on vacation to the in-laws last month I had my best friend and shooting buddy watch the house and the cats for me. Beside getting attacked by my watch cat, he said everything went fine. So I got him a new range bag and some ammo. He smiled so big you would have thought he won the lottery!

There is no one right thing. If you take someone what they like then you did well. AMMO is great. Also, any food that is hard to get in the hospital. Magazines or books.

When my Brother was in the Hospital in KC for knee surgery several years ago, I brought him Mexican food from Ponak's, our favorite Mexican restaurant there. Got a couple of quizzical looks from the nurses that walked by and smelled what was obviously not Hospital food, but my Bro chowed down!

Tried to bring him a margarita, but I guess they frown on to go cups like that at the restaurants.

My brother had a swollen lymph node taken out that turned out to be fine. I hope it's the same case for your friend.
