cause I be the worlds quickest alcoholic. I've only had the thing a few weeks and I'm out of ammo. Picked up 100 Hornady balls, 200 CCI primers, Goex fffg powder, etc.

I only get to shoot one day a weekend if I'm lucky. So I've shot 100+ shots (gun came with a few balls) in three outings.

I've already started making my own wads. Guess I'm gonna have to get a mold and start making my own balls.

Where is the best place to get pure lead? Which die would you folks recommend? .457 seems to fit good cause I get a solid ring when I seat it in the chamber. I've also used .454 with good results.

I should mention that my wife's uncle shot about 24 of those shots. He was absolutly thrilled shooting it.

Haven't even had the desire to reload for the 45 acp and 44 mag lately. I think I've got a problem!

Sounds like a good problem to me my friend.

Try your local Tire shop & ask for their used Adhesive Wheel Weights they are 98% Pure lead with only .25% Antimony & 1.75% other trace elements which will make for a fine muzzloading projectile "don't use the Clip on Wheel Weights because they are 95% Lead 2.5% Antimony & 2.5% other trace elements which is really too hard for muzzleloading projectiles"

Since I've had "brother has claimed it as his now" a 3rd model Dragoon it made sence for me to cast .457 ball & the little extra surface area in the slightly smaller chambers of my other .44 caliber pieces seem to help keep the accuracy pretty good & if they load good for you then I'd suggest the .457's

I know the feeling, I also only get to shoot on the weekends, so I make the best of it. I just finished my 5th box of hornady balls as well.

I've also found out that my 1861 navy (and probably any BP revolver) is a range queen. Everyone who sees me shooting it comes up to me and asks about it.... "that's a neat looking gun... can I try it?" :D

i can second that.

Yeah I have to agree every time I pull any of mine out & shoot a cylinder or two I either get the "Man that is neat, what is it & can I try it" or on occasion I'l get the "Thar aint no skeeders near you with that Cannon going" & it just makes me have a bigger smile.
