I have a Hogue Overmolded stock on my Remington 700. I took it to a gunsmith to get it glass bedded and he told me that type of stock cannot be bedded, something about the texture of the materials used. Is this correct?

Well, both yes and no. I'm not certain that "glass" bedding would properly stick to a Houge stock. But I'm certain that certain epoxies will stick and can be used as a bedding compound, providing that the stock is properly prepared by grinding away the soft rubber and roughing up the underlying hard plastic of the stock.

I've used epoxy to bed the receiver of my Mini 14 into a Houge stock. It works well.

But it's not "glass" bedded.

Ive used Marine Tex grey to bed a Houge overmole. I didnt bother scraping the molding off the uper part of the reciever chanel, but i did poke holes and scuff up the plastic pretty good. So far its been holding quite well.

I have some experience with several synthetic stock and epoxies.
Epoxy will stick. Not necessarily every epoxy. Test first. Cleaning and undercutting like LoonWulf recommended is the way to go. You can also use Bulldog Adhesion Promoter. The problem with many plastics is the mold release prevents adhesion.
On the Epoxy use a slower cure time as opposed to too fast. Also an epoxy that mixes 1:1 is easy to deal with. The Marine Tex is pretty good. It comes in an amount that is just about right for a bedding job. It does not mix 1:1 but not a big problem in this case as you will use half or all of it at once.
On most epoxies too much hardener is worse than too little. Devcon makes some good epoxies. Some mix 2.5:1 which is a little wierd to deal with.

Sorry for not being more specific, the gunsmith told me it could not be bedded period. Anyway, thanks for your help, gentlemen.
