I used Accra Glass to bed (full length) a post '64 Model 70 after I repaired a couple of cracks and pinned the stock (the previous owner had torqued it like a lug nut). I was happy with the results initially, a dollar bill could slide easily from the front of the forgrip to the chamber and all lines were even. It has been a couple of months and now the stock touches one side of the barrel about halfway down and the gun shoots all over the paper. The bore is bright with no pits, the scope (a mid 80's Bushnell) was replaced and I am using a Lead Sled so it has to be the stock touching, right?

How could the stock bend?
How do I fix it, just Dremel 'til I'm happy?

Thanks for the help.

You have just discovered one of the big reasons for glass bedding--wood stocks change with changes in temp/humidity/time, etc. Glass bedding is more stable. Point of impact is more likely to be consistent with a good bed job and free floating the barrel.

Now that the forearm has changed until it is no longer free floated, it wrecks hob with your accuracy. It needs relieving and the tip above with the dowel and sandpaper works great. Float it again and accuracy should return. Keep an eye on it as it may happen again.

When you get it to rights again be sure to give it a good coat of poly on all the bare wood.
