After my previous post asking about Kel-Tecs, I've been talking to many people and visiting a couple of gunshops. The P-11 experience convinced me that I needed a bigger grip or less caliber in a small package.

I decided what I really wanted was my old Glock 26 with room for my pinky to help shootability. Well, loh and behold, both of my favorite shops had Glock 19s. This was the first Glock model I had ever tried, and it isn't much bigger than the 26 and has room for all three fingers. Talking to my coworker, who is retired NYPD sealed the deal.

This coming week I will be trading off my Glock 17 for a Glock 19 in all likelihood. Ordinarily I'm all for "keep them both," but with certain events coming up it is more practical for me to keep the collection to its current level. And with this move, I feel I get a pistol that I can shoot well at the range, compete in fun matches with, use for a night-stand gun AND CCW with more easily and frequently than my current choice.

If you read this far, thanks for listening. There will probably be a range report or two in the coming weeks. :D

If you like the 26, you might consider a pinky extension.

It gives you room for that extra finger yet remains highly concealable.

I really like these for the Glock 26. Genuine Glock all the way, and in addition to giving pinkie support, you have 12 + 1 rounds. Available from Midway, and others I am sure.

BTW, I also have a Glock 19, with ~11,000 rounds through it. It is a great gun, and I love it. The 26, however, fits in places that the 19 just won't go.

Too bad you don't live here. I'd trade my 19 for a 17 - mostly because I prefer my 27 to carry and the 19 is my jack of all trades master of none 9mm. Think hard about that 26.

Snarlingiron and Harmonic took the words right out of my mouth, that said the G-19 is the most size efficient fighting pistol I've ever laid hands on. Two bad you can't pull it together and land and keep all three.........

Out of all the GLocks I've owned, the G19 is the one I have kept & will keep! ;) For me & 99.9% of what I will use this pistol for, it's (dare I say it?!?) ...perfect ;)

Actually, the G26 grip with mag extension will feel slightly the same as the G19.

But I agree with the OP, if you have bigger/wider hands you'll have to go with the fullsize frame/reciever.

I have the G35 and G23. I'm planning on picking up the G22 soon and the full size frame gives my hand a great hold. The G23 is for more concealability.

Great choice on the G17!

i love the 19 and prefer it over the 17 it is the perfect size for any need or task that you can use it for. they are great guns concealble, accurate, reliable, they are big enough to hold and shot comfortably, but still a great size for carry. i think it is a good trade.
