I have a Milt Sparks summer special ii holster that fits my 19 absolutely perfectly. Will a 36 work in a 19 holster with very tight tolerances?

Has anyone handled both guns and have a feel for how they compare in the hand?

A long time ago I was advised that 36s were the one glock to avoid due to reliability issues. Is this still generally true or have issues been resolved?

With the new capacity limits I want to up the caliber so I'm looking into the 23 and the 36...any advice is greatly appreciated.

the 19 is bigger than the 36 in every conceivable way.. (Taller/longer/thicker)

I suppose it would just drop in but not be very secure.

I have both 19 and 36. They fit the same holsters and are almost identical in size. The grip front to back on the 36 is a little longer due to the size of the .45 round but feel is almost the same to me. I've had my 36 since they came out and never had any issues with it except it is picky about certain hollow point bullets. Big holes in the end of bullets don't feed as well. Speer gold dots will catch on the feed ramp sometimes so I use the Hornady ammo instead.

Ihave both as well and all of my G19 holsters work perfectly with the G36. Here are comparison pics:

I have Pearce +0 magazine floor plates on all five G36 magazines.

Thank you for the pictures. That really helps. So which do you prefer to carry/shoot? I'm not sure which way to go on this..

Aren't you better off with 16 rounds of something, rather than 7 rounds of anything? (Plus, the ability to use G17 and G18 mags)

Other than any of the .40s, the G36 is the one Glock that I absolutely wouldn't own.

I prefer the one that makes the bigger hole. My 36 has been perfect from day one! The thinner grip fits me perfect. Try before you buy if possible.

I tend to reach for the G36 for carry, it is narrower. It is sort of the "black sheep" amongst Glock models, not really taken seriously by Glock heads.

But, I love mine. I have since put TruGlo TFO sights on it (like the G19 pictured). For me, it is handy, accurate, reliable and fits my hand perfectly (with the +0 Mag plates). I do not worry about the 6+1 capacity anymore than I worry about my five shot snubby revolvers.

I do love the G19 and have carried it many times. I usually carry with 10 round magazines since the 15 rounders are heavier. I have done both though.

Personally, I'm glad I have both. These are the only two center fire autos I own and both are listed on my license.

Yep, I'm one of those "Glock heads" who don't take the G36 seriously. Following the logic of the bigger hole theory, I guess we'd all be o.k. with .50 cal, one-shot derringers? :what:

Friend of mine was involved in a real gunfight that he survived, after his having suffered serious wounds. He wouldn't have survived, if he'd been carrying a G36, instead of the G17 that he was carrying. ;)

I think the op is from Connecticut so we are talking about a 10 round model 19 (or less). The model 36 can be reloaded, just carry extra mags if capacity is your thing. Again, I say try before you buy!

Exactly. We now have a 10 round magazine law which is new...and needs to be adhered to for carry.

I run the Bianchi Model 82 on and off-duty for the 19/36.

They are one in the same for accuracy and reliability. 19 belonged to the agency, 36 belongs to me. The 36 is a gen 3 with the dual rated/coiled RSA-it's butter smooth, built in USA, and great after market.

Carry the one you shoot the most in practice.

My error. I was thinking of American consumption, not other jursidictions. ;) Wouldn't the larger-cap mags for the G19 be grandfathered, if they were owned prior to the nanny response to the "event"???

glock 36

I have a glock 23. 27. 36.
I have my choice to wear anyone while going out and its always
the glock 36. I dont need to have a 100 rds with me. Im not getting
into a big firefight. Never had one problem with the 36.

If you insist on carrying a 6 or 7 round gun "PM9 and XDS", at least carry 2 magazines on your person. I have 5 for my PM9, 2 + 1 in the gun are the minimum I have on me, The XDS 2, 5 round and 1, 7 round. You really don't want to run out of ammo when someone is shooting at you. When you get to heaven, "if that's where your headed", St peter will bitch slap you for ever putting yourself in that position. Ammo goes by real fast. 2 or 3 guys will overwhelm you in seconds, even 1 guy with a couple 20 round mags walking you down.
Figure 40% misses during an exchange in a real gun fight, and 3 to 4 rounds to stop the threat. So 5-6 for each guy "or gal" you are facing. That makes a glock 19 perfect for most carry applications involving 3 people or less.

I carried a 36 for over a year but recently switched to a 30s. Same slim slide but uses standard double stack magazines.
