Went to an indoor range for the first time in a while Saturday. Brought my friend's USP full sized .40 and rented a Glock 19C on a whim. I have never had an interest in Glocks too ugly and too much hype. But I started out the day , shooting the glock and was very impressed. It seemed to fit my hand perfectly, my shooting hand thumb could easily reach the slide release without changing my hand's firing position. Pointed very easily, very low recoil, easy accurate rapid fire. The biggest difference for me was on follow up shots the sights were pretty much in the same spot as before the shot, compared with the 1911 having to make more of an adjustment on follow up shots. The only complaint the grip felt a little too smooth and slick. Also trigger seemed weird, pull seemed to vary. The faster I squeezed the trigger the better it felt, the slower the heavier it felt.
After having such a great time shooting the glock, even buying some more ammo at the jack move range price, I don't feel I gave the USP a decent chance. So I think I'm going to try it out one more time at the range. The pistol just seemed okay to me. Nothing to complain about but nothing really good either. Shooting in DA was not a pleasant experience way off target. Another thing that bothered me is with the slide closed the magazines drop free, when the slide's locked back they don't drop free.

Both guns performed flawlessly with no malfunctions.

Once upon a time I felt the same about Glocks. Like you said, I never had any interest in them. They were/are ugly and that funky little doohickey protruding from the trigger just gave me the willies. That was until I test drove a few of them. Now, I'm a Glocker at heart (don't let my Sigs hear that!).

I'm still trying to give my USP a fighting chance (purchased in 1999 whereas my G22 was purchased in '99 and my G35 in '02). Maybe I'll break it out next range session.

My first Glock was a Model 22. Didn't like the recoil, plus I didn't like the feel of the full sized Glocks. Eventually I traded it off. Then I bought a G19, and sweet baby James, this was great. I think the 19 is the best model Glock has.

I have had few Glocks (a 23, 17, 21 & a 36) & shot them all ALOT...they're just not for me. Now my USPs have seen more rounds than the Glocks did & have proven to be more pistol than I ever expected.

Plus, keep in mind you were shooting a ported 9mm vs. a fullsize 40. The mild 9mm was tamed even more vs. a snappy caliber that (even w/ the dual recoil spring in the USP) still would have been more than the 19c.

When getting my USP 40 from CDNN i could have got a glock 22 for the same price, however, even though every glock i have fired i liked, i absolutely loved every HK i've shot.

40 is a snappy cartridge by the way, however, once my "USP .40 Tactical" project is done, i expect a 45% decrease in muzzle flip, a 50% increase in accuracy and 5% increase in muzzle velocity with all ammunition. This is gonna be a neat gun.
