Went to an indoor range for the first time in a while Saturday. Brought my friend's USP full sized .40 and rented a Glock 19C on a whim. I have never had an interest in Glocks too ugly and too much hype. But I started out the day , shooting the glock and was very impressed. It seemed to fit my hand perfectly, my shooting hand thumb could easily reach the slide release without changing my hand's firing position. Pointed very easily, very low recoil, easy accurate rapid fire. The biggest difference for me was on follow up shots the sights were pretty much in the same spot as before the shot, compared with the 1911 having to make more of an adjustment on follow up shots. The only complaint the grip felt a little too smooth and slick. Also trigger seemed weird, pull seemed to vary. The faster I squeezed the trigger the better it felt, the slower the heavier it felt.
After having such a great time shooting the glock, even buying some more ammo at the jack move range price, I don't feel I gave the USP a decent chance. So I think I'm going to try it out one more time at the range. The pistol just seemed okay to me. Nothing to complain about but nothing really good either. Shooting in DA was not a pleasant experience way off target. Another thing that bothered me is with the slide closed the magazines drop free, when the slide's locked back they don't drop free.
Both guns performed flawlessly with no malfunctions.
