Glock 19 for CC or

You can't go wrong with most name brand handguns. I personally carry a Glock 17.
What firearm to choose will depend on what works for you. I encourage you to experiment with different firearms until you find one that fits you.
Great 1st post. Welcome to THR.

I also think the Glock 19 makes an excellent carry gun and the price is reasonable. Mine has been completely reliable.

I would (and did) take a G26 over a G19. It was hard to give up my US-made G19, but the G26 does everything the 19 does, in a more concealable, pleasant-to-carry package.

It really comes down to four key things:
1) Grip texture... the Gen 4 is more aggressive.
2) Grip size... the Gen 4 can be smaller or larger.
3) Slidebite... if you get slidebite, the Gen 4 beavertails are fantastic.
4) Mag release... the Gen 4 mag release is larger, but not prone to accidental actuation like some extended Gen 3 mag releases.

The Gen 4 beavertail backstraps are the single best thing I've ever gotten for my Glocks. If you don't get slide bite, you may not care, but they're fantastic for me, and other folks with big hands. Also, the grip texture and mag release on the Gen 4 is ideal, in my opinion. I can't speak for anyone else, but it's just aggressive enough to get a solid grip on the gun in wet conditions, without tearing up my skin or my hands getting raw in spots after 300 rounds. I will only have Gen 4 Glocks going forward. Call me a Gen 4 fanboy, I guess lol.

I own a gen 3, but I would suggest getting the gen4. Now the reason being that I like the bigger mag release and the grip texture is better, also like the smaller grip size, I have hands that are on the smaller side of average and the 2mm shorter grip is nice. I would like to have a gen4, but my gen3 works pretty good.:D
YMMV, hope you enjoy what ever you get.

I'm in 100% agreement with this. I have owned Gen 3 Glocks, and now own only Gen 4. The beavertails REALLY make a difference for a lot of us. They also serve as a quick reference for that high/strong grip when you're locking into count 1 of the draw stroke.

One other difference with the Gen 4: the RSA/recoil spring assembly. They are even softer/flatter shooting than Gen 3, which are flat shooters, themselves. It's more notable in calibers other than 9mm, but obviously doesn't suck in 9mm, either.

I just bought a 4th Generation G19. It conceals well enough in a Dale Fricke Archangel, worn at the appendix position., but all-day comfort is, well, maybe I just need to get used to it, and/or try it closer to 0300, and perhaps at 1000-1100, as a front crossdraw. Some rigs become OK with a little carry time. (Front crossdraw would be for second-gun carry.)

Another rig I am about to try with it is a Desbiens AIWB rig, that, tentatively, seems more comfortable than the Archangel at AIWB, but perhaps a bit less concealable. I have the advantage of carrying on my badge, rather than CHL, so true, deep concealment is less
vital.

I do plan to add a G26 soon. This will complete my trio of G17, G19, and G26. I usually carry the G17 as "primary" when not at work. At work, .40 or .45 are the mandated duty cartridges, and I still use my P229R DAK, but my ailing hand and wrist are painfully affected by .40 recoil, so I am starting to acquire gentler-recoiling pistols for personal carry, and for back-up at work. It remains to be seen whether the G19 or a G26 will become my concealed at-work hide-out gun.

Regarding the G17, I have been carrying it concealed in a Raven Concealment Systems Phantom, an excellent rig for outside the pants.

Might want to look to Autoloaders>>>Got another P99 topic....... They say it's the best DA/SA pistol ever made. Must be because Pierce Brosnan carried one in 007 movie.

The Walther P99AS is the best "plastic" pistol IMHO(James Bond is the only thing that I dislike about it,:cuss:) it's about the same size as a glock 19. The only reason that I didn't say anything about it earlier is most people dislike DA/SA, I don't mind it though.

Amazing how Glock didn't have any recalls this year... Just kidding! I've got a 23C and a 27 I use for my EDC, the wife will have a 26 she picked out on Christmas. I started with an XDM 40 and liked it until I bought the 27. Now we have four handguns and three are Glocks. The other is a paper weight Smith.
I'd recommend the 26 solely on being able to fully conceal it. I use my 23C for colder weather OWB mainly. But summer time, church. The 19/23 is just a little big (for me) to conceal well under most of my average clothing with a Crossbreed. The shorter 27/26 grip is the cats meow.

I don't currently own a Glock but I have to say that it's hard to beat the 19. Small enough for CC, big enough to keep recoil down and enjoy taking it to the range.

Get the G19. I carry a G26 daily...might buy a G19 just for range duty next. I'd prefer the G26 to the G19 for edc.
Get the 17 then. The 17/26 combination does everything better than a 19. The 17 is a much better range/HD gun and the 26, as you've already discovered, is a superior carry gun.

The 19 is a good compromise gun if you're going to only have one.
