When I bought my Glock 19 about 5 years ago, 10 round mags were the rule, without paying a fortune for factory pre-ban 15 rounders, and they were rare. And you really can't hardly get that 10th round in those factory 10 round magazines, the springs, lawyer dictated were so tight, and so they were really 9 round mags.

Today I bought a factory Glock 19 15 round mag at a local gun show and what a difference this made in loading and the balance of the gun. Loading 15 rounds was easy with the Glock loader, but I still down load 1 round as this is my practice.

I once wrote an essay in which I felt the Glock 19 was the perfect auto-loading pistol. I was reminded that it would be more perfect if I had 15 round magazines for it. True.

Now I have 5 extra rounds, and the Glock 19 feels so much better balanced, I guess because it was designed around this hi-cap mag. I bought a 17 round mag for my Glock 17 as well and I found the same results to be true. Tomorrow I am going to pick up a few more.

$23 for the G17 17 rounder - $25 for the G19. Probably can get them cheaper somewhere else, but I got em now and that is all that counts.

I now feel that my G19 and G17 are complete and I am a happy camper!

You forgot about the 33 rounders for both. :)

I hate to admit it, but I still dont have any 33 rounders, despite several opprotunities.

Never had any 10 rounds though. I bought several magazines a few months before the ban ended incase it was renued, and bought the gun used, so all I ever had were 15 rounders and 17 rounders, but they were just standard capacity with a +2 extension.

Think I paid $18 or so at TopGlock for mine. I now have four total (two came with the gun as I bought it post-sunset) and could do with a couple more so I can reserve two for SD loads and use 4 for convenient range sessions.

Only thing that hit me in the OP is the -1 loading. That last round IS a bit stiff obviously but it's not that bad and I find I can get it in barehanded with a bit of effort or pretty easily with the loader. Now I'm a gorilla of a guy going about 280+ so YMMV of course. I did buy an HKS speedloader also from TopGlock and found that cuts down on the effort and increases the speed and consistency of loading quite a bunch - so you may want to think of one of those if you feel the last round is a bit too stiff. They work well.

I don't believe that he can't get the 15th round in, just that he prefers to download by one, as it's his "practice." I can't imagine why, but it is his Glock, his mag, and his ammo. :)

I own and shoot a lot of different pistols and think the G19 is near perfect in balance and size with a 15rd magazine. Don't be afraid of loading the 15rd-ers to the top. I shoot a lot of IDPA with my G19 and always had my mag's full until I had to download for the match. S&W's are the only mag's that I have been able to wear out. They still worked but rattled when loaded until I replaced the springs with new ones. The Glock mag's are tough on the last round but I noticed that they "loosen up" after you break them in a bit.
