Can someone point me in the direction on how to tell if a glock 19 magazine is PRE-BAN. I live in NY and I want to keep it legal. I'm sure I saw a picture of the PRE and POST Ban magazines next to one another somewhere. I can't seem to find the link.

Thanks

Great thanks.

Do you know if the 1st generation mags are compatible with a 3rd gen glock?

Are the 1st gen mags "bad" because they are not metal lined? (NML vs FML)

Short answer, YES!

All Glock mags will fit for the pistol caliber it is made for, regardless of pre-ban or LE or 10-rounder or new issue, etc. The pre-ban will not drop free from the pistol when you eject them, the newer model will.

The 1st gens don't drop free, but the 2nd gens came out before the ban IIRC, and they'll drop free. Do NOT get ProMag or the other junk aftermarket mags. Worst $15 I ever wasted during the ban.

Numbers 1, 2, 3 & 4 are pre-Federal 1994 ban.
Numbers 5 & 6 were during the ban was in effect.
Number 7 is after the Federal 1994 ban ended in 2004.

Numbers 1, 2 & 3 are non-drop free.
Numbers 4, 5, 6 & 7 are drop free.

2007 has brought about Number 8 (no pic at this time). Similar to the number 7 but with a notch cut in front of the magazine so it can be used in Glocks with the ambi-mag release system.

Hi guys, this thread is older than hell and it seems you guys know what your talking about. Needless to say none of these links work anymore and it would be handy to know the info. I live in NY and im considering purchasing a glock but it would be nice to know how to identify pre ban mags.

Thanks
