my dad has always liked to shoot lead and even now that he has theglocks he still wants to so he bought a storm lake ss barrel of the ported variety. for one to lessen muzzle flip and 2 to be able to shoot lead rds without a problem.
the barrel is about an extra 1" longer than the frame and has two ports on top.
TASK:
we shot 5rds in a regular factory glock 19 and then 5rds in the 19 with the new barrel. we used umc factory ammo. 115gr fmj. we reapeated several times.
Observations: i personally as well as my dad couldn't tell a difference in the muzzle flip at all and to me seemed the same to me in both.
so really the only benifit that i see rom this barrel is the fact that lead rds can be used there was no difference in the muzzle flip at all which is near nothing anyway in a glock 19, to me anyway.
Conclusion:
he is now gonna get his machinest friend to take the extra inch off the end and have it recrowned, and use i like a normal barrel and use his lead reloads.
so if you want to have the muzzle flip reduced the storm lake barrels, well this one in particular is not the one for you. but a ss barrel is the way to go for shooting lead in a glock.
