Looking for my first CCW piece and it keep coming back to these two.
Glock are reliable and accurate but have crappy triggers and a bad grip angle.
The XD’s have bad finishes (really not interested in getting it sent off to be refinished but will if I have too) and I’m not sure about accessories such as mag extenders.

Has anyone had any problems with these?

Someone has said something about a 4th generaton glock
btw my G19 came with a red dot on both sides of the trigger guard; I was told it was to indicate when the trigger was armed. It also had a loaded chamber indicator that shows a red line at the top when loaded, and an extended slide release
which I guess would make it have some of the features of the XD.

Don't know about the red dots, but the chamber loaded indicator, is nothing more than the extractor sticking out a little bit when a round is in the chamber.

I will say up front that I have no experience with the XD9. I do however have two Glock 19s. For concealment, I think it is the perfect balance of size, weight and power. It is my second fav concealment gun, my favorite being the Colt 1911.

I've owned five XD's and never had a finish problem. I don't know about mag extenders. My mags hold 16 rounds. So when I'm carrying a fully loaded gun and a spare mag I have 33 rounds on tap. Enough for me I guess.

Reliable, yes. Accuracy is good, not the greatest.

The Glock triggers have a very short reset, so really, only the first pull is "crappy". With a little fluffing and buffing the trigger pull after reset can actually be very good.

Whether the grip angle is "bad" or not is entirely subjective. It's fine for me.

Save the money and go with the XD. Sounds like you prefer that grip anyways. As for the finish I've never had a problem with my XD9. It's not quite as common as the haters want everyone to believe. Worst case scenario the finish rusts, but you can get an XD slide refinished and still come out spending less than getting a new Glock.

Then skip the Glock...

If you noticed the difference with the Glock grip angle (which you did!) - then it IS a problem. I won't buy another Glock for that reason (and others) - there are too many other choices out there to pick out a gun you KNOW is wrong for you.

Just get the stainless XD-9. That is what I did because I didn't want to worry about the finish. The SS XD is only a few bucks more and it looks better. The grip on the XD is acutally really good. The grip on the Glock is poor, like all Glock grips. If Glock could make their grip feel as nice as the XD, they could put the XD out of business but apparently it is too hard to mold plastic to a shape that fits a human hand. :neener: Glock has to be the LEAST inovative company since they first came out with the G-17. The G-17 was a big advancement but all the other Glocks are more or less variations of the G-17 with almost zero thought put into them. It must have taken a huge amount of thinking to come up with the G-19 ( a gun a little shorter in bbl and grip) and I think they had to call NASA in to make the G-26 (a gun a little shorter yet). WOW! How did they ever come up with those two guns? My favorite is the G-36. A single stack Glock that they managed to make almost as uncomfortable as their double stacks.

Anyway, why does everyone forget that you can get the XD in a stainless slide for still less than a Glock would cost? I paid $399 for my NIB XD-9 SS with two hi-caps. You can't get a new G-19 for $399 with two hi-caps. Also, my XD-9 is VERY accurate, I was surprised at the accuracy. I would say that it is at least as accurate as a Glock if not more so. I truely believe that the XD is flat out better made and a better gun than the Glock regaurdless of price. It is too bad that SA didn't charge $100 more than a Glock because if they did, everyone would say the XD is much better than a Glock.
