I just got my new Glock 19. Its a 2nd Gen but rarely fired. I got it for a great price, and took it to the range today and shot 200 rds through it. It was a fun shoot, a good gun I feel everyone should have or at least shoot once.

What are your thoughts on the Glock 19?

I got my Glock 19 in the late 80's and IMO its one of the best carry and self defense pistols you can have. One of my most frequently carried and shot handguns. Compact in size, simple manual of arms, lots of ammo in the magazine and will stand up to +P+ ammo without worry. Its a great tool but doesn't give me as much pleasure that I get from just handling one of my Colt's or S&W's.

congrats, of all the glocks i prefer them in 9mm and the best IMHP is the 19 by far. they are nice and though i am not a huge fan i have oned oe in the past and after the deployment i will buy another and take advantage of the military glock leo dealer discount. they are everything that you need, reliable, accurate, durable, replacement parts galore, and accesories. they are concealable, and hi cap.

The G19 is my only Glock and I am very happy with it as a CC weapon. It conceals very well IWB although at the range I like something heavier. With over 1000 rounds and not a whole lot of cleaning, I have yet to have a malfunction.

Occasionally if I lend it to someone at the range and they don't hold it tightly, the movement of their wrist seems to absorb some of the energy of the slide moving back and it won't feed the next round - this has never happened to me.

Also, watch that as you choke up on it your thumb doesn't touch the slide-release because this can cause the slide not to lock back after the last round.

I have a first gen one that I got as part of a trade. I took it out and ran 50 rounds thru it and confirmed what I thought about them when they first came out. Glocks just aren't my cup of tea. It resides in the back of the safe now.

I like my G17 better because I have big hands and it fits me better.

It works. All the time.

I have other handguns I use and enjoy, but this is still a favorite. One thing that is striking about it is its size efficiency. It is very compact for holding 15 rounds in the magazine. I put it up next to my S&W 3913 (a "slimnine" - as I like to call them - that holds 8 rounds) and it is within fractions of an inch in height and length, although thicker and blockier. Then I put it up next to my SIG P228 and CZ PCR (13 and 14 rounds respectively) and the Glock is shorter than either. My S&W M&P compact (12 rounds) is shorter on both ends, but the slide is much wider. (I would be tickled pink if the M&P were made in this "in between" size, splitting the difference between the compact and full-size.)

This one is 3 years old. Never had any problems with it.

Some changes :

Capture spring changed to full medal.
Trigger spring changed to 5 lb.
Trigger Assembly polished.
Mag and slid release enlarged.

Works fine!

The 19 is an excellent comprimise between size and control. Easy to use, never breaks, etc.
People may not love the 19, but nobody hates it. It just works.

The Glock 19 has the greatest size to power ratio of anything....ever!

OK, so there's an ungodly level of power held within a single atom. But I mean power that you can actually unleash.

Certainly IMO, the best size/power ratio of any pistol yet conceived by the mind of man.

I'v had mine for a year or so and the size and capacity, make it a great carry/self defence gun.

Bought my Glock 19 on September 29, 1988 the day I turned 21 so I assume it's a generation 1. It was my first handgun.

I'm 40 now and I still LOVE IT!

Been thinking about another pistol.
Saw a 19 with 4 mags and a light. Don’t own a Glock yet…
Less than $700, why are you doing this to me? -----:)>):):D

Back On Topic; The G19 is a great carry weapon. Mine has been reliable from day one.

IMO, Glock did their best work in 9mm and the 19 is the cream of the crop. I like the older gens w/o the finger grooves, but with or w/o, the 19 is a great pistol! (Take that from a HK guy!)

I've had mine for a couple of years. I tried to carry other platforms but I always came back to the glock. For me it's the perfect EDC pistol.

The G19 may very well be the best combat handgun ever made.
Personally, I think that award should go to the full sized Glock G17 or Glock G22.

The G19 is nice but I prefer a longer grip so my fingers are not crowded.

I dont like the plastic sights, crappy trigger, or the grip (both the grip angle and the stippling).

That said, I own one, its my third Glock. I owned two G17s before, both second gen, and I later got a NIB G19 to use as a beater and car gun. I replaced the beat to crap front sight with a night sight, spun the rear sight around backwards, stippled the grip with a woodburning pen, and I live with the trigger and grip angle.
