Glock question???

I need the hivemind's advice here. I am trading my brand new gen 3 Glock 26 with standard sights to a buddy for a gen 3 Glock 19 with night sights and about 2000 rounds through it. I really want a 19 but feel like I am being stupid trading a new gun for one with 2000 rounds???

Why is your 26 still new?

If it's because you've been wishing it was a 19 all this time, then make the trade. 2000 rds is nothing, providing he didn't abuse it like an idiot.

Trading something you don't want for something you do is just about always a good idea.

It's not round count so much as holster wear that shows on a handgun. It's not like a high velocity rifle where barrel life is a concern.

2000 rounds is nothing for any respectable weapon. If your buddy took care of it, go ahead with the trade. It may sound dumb, but you can usually gauge how well a used firearm was treated by looking at the finish. If nothing else, the night sights make up the difference in age and use.

I agree with Allaroundhunter, he just broke it in for you, saving you a bunch of time and money. Beyond that, I agree with everything else said by everyone else

(BTW, I won't taint my post or opinion by stating what two Glock models I presently own. You do da maff. )

2000 rounds is just getting broken in. The night sights alone are worth more than the difference between new and used. You would be getting the best end of the deal if you trade even.

Monetarily, you will probably come out on the short end, but if the other gun is what you really wanted, plus the night sights, you can't put a price tag on that. Make the trade. Two thousand rounds through a Glock 19 is like a car with two thousand miles on it - barely broken in.

Lets Be Realistic

Get real, we are talking about buying a gun that has had 2000 rounds put through it. With that kind of wear you will probably want to reduce every 50th range session by at least 1 round if you want a pristine barrel when you grand kids start using it.

Thousands and thousands and thousands of rounds. The inside of the barrel is much, much harder than a copper-jacketed or lead bullet and will not wear appreciably with normal use. Chuck Taylor has put more than 157,000 rounds through his Glock 17 without ever replacing the barrel.

I really like my Glock 19C. I only have about 1000 rounds through it. A friend has a Glock 26 and he let me shoot it. I like the size of the 26 but I prefer my 19C for a self defense weapon.
