Glock 20/21 grip size....does it fit anyone?

I handled a glock 20 for the first time yesterday and found the grip to be quite bulky and overly large to the point that it was not at all comfortable for me. I have rather large hands (6'4"), with long fingers.

I realize that these guns are quite popular, but does anyone actually like the grip on these guns? If you do, are you occasionally referred to as The Yeti, or Sasquatch?

Maybe it's just the way my hands are formed...what is ya'll's take?

They felt large the first time I handled one. It wasn't untill I actually shot a G-21 at a range that I realized how well they handle.
There is a saying that the gun that fits your hand best will shoot best, but I've found that to be untrue in my case.
I have a Sig P226 that feels like it was molded in my hand. I have a Glock 20 that feels large and square. The P226 is sweet and accurate, but the big Glock is faster and more accurate for me, including speed shooting, one hand shooting and shooting 'over the sights'. My best IDPA scores have been shot with the 20 and mid range loads (180 gr./1,000 fps).
I'm 6 feet tall and kinda' skinny, but the big Glock shoots best for me.

I'm 6' with short "sausage" fingers. Can't say that my 20 fits me well either.

However, I shoot it very well and have shot it in stress situations exceptionally well.

I looked about sending it out to get the reduction job done to it. However, as well as I've shot it thus far I don't want to mess with fate.

They tend to perform much better than they feel (at least for me).

Plus the Glock 20 rocks!!!!

I'm 6'4" and the grip fits me well, except for the finger grooves. My fingers are too big around for them.

I have a G20 and I don't have overly large hands. The grips feel big to me, but it is a good, proportional type of big. The G22 and G17 both fit better, but the G20's grip is by no means bad. Grip fit is entirely subjective, of course, so what works for one guy and "should" work for another might not. If you like it, great. If you don't, there are plenty of other choices out there.

There's likely a psychological predisposition against the wide grip of the G20/G21, if you're accustomed to the skinny grips of 1911's, etc. One doesn't have to have giant hands to become comfortable with either the G20 or G21. I'd suggest putting a few hundred rounds downrange before writing either off.

I own a Glock 20 and it actually feels quite good in my hand, points naturally, and provides very good recoil control for me. I also have no complaints with the grip of my USP Tactical 45 or the Desert Eagle and all are supposed to be rather large so I guess I am just gifted. I am 6'5" and have larger than average hands with long knobby fingers.

I think them too large. They just don't feel nice in my hand the way a G17 does. However, despite that, I can shoot one quite well and easily. I would much prefer slimmer one with more ammo capacity though however.

I like the fat 21 in my hand. My hands might be on the larger side for someone who is only 5' 10", but I don't have huge paws. When I bought my first pistol I chose one that I could get a better grip on because the grip was smaller and I felt that it was more secure in my hand. The more I shot, the more I found I liked a pistol which fills my hand, I also feels it gives me a longer and more comfortable position for my trigger finger.

I have farily long fingers and find my G21 very comfortable and accurate to shoot. I do well with smaller grip pistols too.

Second generation 20s,21s fit my hands very well. There's something about a 3rd generation frame that my hand just doesn't like. I get along with the large frame 3rd generation guns, but much prefer the second generation. I love my G20, BTW. Most accurate of all my Glocks.

Hey all,

I'm slightly larger than average, a semi-inshape 6'1". I've got a 21 for vehicle carry and home defense. Its a second generation design, so the grip is "pebbled" but without finger grooves.

I find it fits fine and shoots as well as anything I have and better than most.

5'11" here. Hands on the large side of average for height. Don't have a problem with the grip size of the Glock 20 or with shooting it. I do have a problem with carrying the bigger Glocks though. I feel like I've got a brick strapped on. Which is the main reason that my 1911's are still my carry guns.

The grip isn't too large for me. 6'2" with kind of stubby thumbs. My problem with the Glocks is the finger grooves. My fingers just don't seem to line up with them.

The older slick-front ones worked better for me, grip wise.

I am 6'6" With really long, and somewhat wide fingers. The glock 21's grip was ok, minus the finger grooves like everyone else has mentioned. When I fired the gun it felt as though my middle finger was being pinched. I don't know who desiged the groves in the way they did, but the certainly didn't leave enough room. If I filed part of the groove off, the 21 would be decent, but I much rather have a CZ97. Around the same price, fits the hand better, and it doesn't feel like a toy

I find that, 99% of the time, fingergrooves are positioned wrong for me. I really dislike Hogue rubber grips for this reason. Glocks, I get along with it b/c I really don't have alot of selection (no 2nd generation G37s, 38s). Just give me serrations, stipling, or checkering and lay off the fingergrooves thank you very much.

Never bothered me. I've got a G21 but it's been some time since I shot it. I've got hands the size of a 12 year old Japanese schoolgirl's but it's never been an issue. Granted, it was the 2nd gun I owned (24 hours after the 1st..) so maybe I just forced myself to get used to it?

I've got more issues with something being too small than too large. A KelTec P3AT or CZ RAMI feels awkward in my hands, more so than something like a G21.

Now, the G23? I think Gaston snuck in one night and used my hand to mold that grip.

Girth doesn't bug me -- it's length. Even a Sig 220 feels big in my hands, though I know it must be smaller than the G21. I don't seem to have any issue shooting them, it's just awkard feeling I suppose when moving off a short pistol to a .45.

Some very valid points have been made.

1) It was a 3rd gen. glock...so perhaps an earlier gen. gun without the finger grooves would fit my hand better, though my fingers are fairly skinny.

2) I am more used to a longer, thinner grip....like that of the 1911.

3) While not as comfortable in my hand, I may still be able to shoot it well, and adjust to the feel of it.

I'll be on the look out for an earlier model without the grooves and see if it suits me.

I also wonder if it may have to do with the length between the joints of my fingers...perhaps they just don't bend at the right places to wrap my fingers around the grip comfortably.

I am 6'8" and have been able to palm a basketball since I was 12. I really like the grip of a Glock 20/21, esp. the 3rd gen frame. I currently own a G17 and the grip feels a little small for me.
