I am posting this to benefit any Glock 30 owners who are wondering about using a G21 mag with an A & G spacer.

If you ever wondered about this, here is some info on it and a pic. If you don't own a G30 or have no interest in this, move on to another post. :)

Here is it.

I just got a G21 magazine, which holds 13 rounds, for my G30. (about $20) I also got an A & G grip spacer (about $10), which fills in the gap that would normally exist.

Pros:

- it gives the G30 a much bigger grip. My hand fits ok on the G30, even with a Pearce extender, but this allows your hand ample room.

- obviously, 13 + 1 gives you a little more firepower

Cons:

- * this is key. It is NOT as concealable as before. I have read some posts here and elsewhere that this is not an issue, but it is. Normally I can CCW my G30 with a T shirt, with no problem. With the G21 mag, it sticks out a bit and gives me away. I can adjust it but overall, its not as simple as carrying with the 10 round mag.

Overall I think it is worth it to give you the option of having a mag with more rounds. I keep this on the nightstand now. However, for regular carry with a T shirt, I'll use a regular 10 round mag.

Again, I posted this for the benefit of any G30 owner who may have considered doing this.

My take is this:

One of the key reasons that I adapted the Glock 30 platform for both carry and secondary home defense is the ability to tailor the magazine size to the situation at hand. For example, when my G30 is at home in the nightstand, it holds 13+1, with a couple of 13 rounders next to it. More than adequate for HD (especially since it's my secondary HD weapon). When I carry, the G30 shrinks down quite a bit with it's 9 round flush magazine, plus a 13 spare, for a total of 23 rounds of .45 in a small, easy to conceal package (YMMV). Then, when plinking on the range (unless testing my carry or HD mags), I use the regular 10 rounders.

Now, that being said, since I am obviuosly a person who uses the G21 mags in my 30, you would think that I like the A&G spacers. Nope. While being a decent idea, I think it suffers in practice for numerous reasons. The biggest for me was the change in the grip. The spacer continues the "hump" on the backstrap of the G30 all the way down. What this meant for me and the other people I let shoot with it is that the user's natural grip seems to drift downward, over the "hump", instead of above it. This leads to a grip that is much too low, leading to poor control of the weapon during recoil. In fact, I can shoot the G30 fine with a plain G21 magazine, but with the A&G spacer, I can't hit bupkis because of the altered grip dimensions. Also, the back hump, along with the low grip it encourages, can put more than normal forward force against the bottom of the magazine, leading to altered feed geometry, and possible feeding problems. The last reason that I don't like the A&G spacers is that they are really not needed. I have large hands, and have no problem firing a G30 with any of the 9,10, or 13 round magazines. Again, YMMV.

Glock 21 Mag in Glock 30

I often carry a Glock 21 ma:) as a extra mag while carrying my Glock 30. I have fired the GL 30 many time using the GL 21 mag and have never had a problem. The extra round count may come in handy someday if, and when, the GL 30 is needed.

For me, I have 2 G21 mags for spare with the Pearced 10 rounder inside the gun. I figure that if I need to reach for the spare mags, one of the last things on my mind is my pinky grip.:what:
