while out shooting today we noticed that the glock 21 was spitting ejected cartridges back in our face. dad can't remember wiether it did that last time or not and we we're wondering if anyone else has run into that problem. the G21 preformed flawlessly except for that.

Clean up the extractor claw and make sure it isn't missing a small chunk or chip. It could just be some crud baked onto the claw that has changed the geometry just enough.

I reload target loads like 3.6 grans of bullseye behind a 230 grain ball for my 1911 and when I tried them in my G21 they were hitting me in my face. I find low powered target loads will do this in glocks. You might try a different brand of ammo that might resolve your problem. That dimpled brass thing I have seen before with my 357 sig G33 the brass is striking something on it way out. It shouldn't present any problem.

Its not just the Glock 21 that has been known to do this it can happen with a 9mm or .40 Glock as well.

A couple of the older series Glocks I knew of were notoriously constant face thwackers with their ejected brass, change ammunition brands or bullet weights and see if the problem continues also make sure it is clean under and around the extractor.

Sometimes a new after market recoil spring may help.

Nothing more unnerving than shooting a Glock and being hit in the face every third to fifth round by an empty shell casing, combine that with having to have your shirt buttoned up in 100 plus degree heat so the hot empties don't end up going down your open shirt.

Been there a couple times, I wish you the best of luck.;)

grin, it wasn't that bad. it was a good escuse to pull out the 1911 for awhile! the glock in question is about ten years old, so we'll see. i know dad called glock this morning about it. i'll tell him about the recoil spring idea. we we're using basic remington umc FMJ in it. thanks for the help.

Glock Rocks!!

so i mentioned that dad called glock this morning. he just called me to tell me whats up.
he talked to a technition, who was very nice. they talked for about about how older glocks can throw brass back and gave dad some segestions. then he told dad send it it so we can refurbish it for free. :what: glock will pick up half the shipping and handling, test the gun, replace ANYPART that needs replacing for free. in fact they LIKE having older glocks sent in so they can see how the older designs are standing up.
and unlike H&K who, as dad put it "want the serial number, the date of purchase, where you purchased it, your firstborn children and a pint of blood", glock only wants the serial number to run through a crime database to check if it was stolen. :)
we love glock. talk about customer service!:D

Jeebus. Fantastic customer service. The only other companies I've ever heard of with customer service THAT good are Kel-tec and Springfield Armory, and even then I've never heard of anything like this.
Impressive. Please keep us updated!!

dads under the impression that FN is another one of the good guys. as we havn't yet had to deal with them, i can't say for sure. i give a +1 to kel-tec too, dad sent back his multiple times and they were always extremly nice.

I've read several threads on other forums of Glock offering similar services to owners.

It's also not unheard of, to send a Glock in for repair, and get it back totally refurbished, along with key chains, stick pins, coffee mugs, etc.

Glock rocks! :D

Even though it's going back, I thought I'd chime in. My Glock 26 9mm can chuck it back if I'm not holding it tightly enough. If I loosen my grip even more (limp wristing), it'll jam. The solution is a firm grip (for me, anyway!).

strat, limpwristing is not a factor.
the mechanic said his wife has a similar problem that they believe is because she is left eye dominante and probably canting the gun a bit. being that i'm right eye dominate and my dad only has a right eye, i don't think thats a problem either. several people have chimed in that this sometimes comes up with older glocks (this is a glock 21 thats over 10 years old) and the tech concured. besides, i'd like to see what they have to say about the condition of our 21 *grin*.
