Hey everyone

I have a 1911 and I enjoy it very much especially its caliber. But I grew up shooting a Makarov, so I am used to a heavier trigger pull. Mostly I am interested in higher magazine capacity, and as this is not a pistol for concealment purposes but rather a side arm to be carried in either a hip or thigh rig.

So my question is the G21SF significantly different than a standard G21. Also is there any advantages to any of the different generations. I have never had a tactical light on a pistol so its unlikely that I will in the future but it is possible. I kind of like the looks of the 1st generation pistol. I saw a used G-21 today with the new picatinny rail for $425 seems pretty reasonable to me.

what is your opinion of the G21

Hey there Brother in Arms where'd you grow up shooting those Mak's? I own many Glock's and have some experience with the 21 and it's the least favorite one I've ever owned, it being just to damn big. The 21 shortframe is to my mind just not significantly short enough in the butt stock to render it more comfortable to handle and fire. Now if you're a bigger guy in the hands then maybe it's the one for you, some folks do feel it fits better. Personally I was dissapointed Gaston didn't give us a full size G-36 and 8-9 round magazine..........It's still a great pistol... P.S. I don't care for the light rails and I wish we could still get generation 1 frames without fingergrooves..

If you pick them up and handle them right next to each other, you can tell the difference. If your hands are way too small for the G21, the 21sf won't do much for you. If you can basically handle a G21 and the grip is just a tad too big, you'll be plenty happy with the G21SF. It shoots just as softly as the regular G21. All in all, a good weapon, but not quite comparable in grip circumference when going against the XD .45 or M&P .45. Those two still have it beat. But grip circumference isn't everything either.....

I have owned a G21 twice and sold it as it was just not comfortable enough to me to shoot. I just picked up a G21SF and the difference in size makes it finally comfortable to me.

I prefer 1911s and they are my favorite, but the allure of 13 rounds of .45 kept me coming back.

Now, I can have my 1911 fun at the range and I have a reliable alternative in the G21SF.

I have always like 1911's. It was what I grew up with.

I purchased a G21 owned it for a few months and then got rid of it.
Missed it and bought another.

I like the way it feels, it does not seem to large for me, so I really like it. I will not be getting rid of it again. If you try the 21 and find it a little too big you can easily have a grip reduction done.
Only you can decide if it works for you. If the one you saw was solid the price is not that bad.

I wish I could comment on the different generations, but I got on the Glock train at Gen 3, so that is what I know.
