I just bought a Glock 22 brand new. When it arrived I looked through the sights and the front sight is cracked. Do I send it to Glock for repair? Has anyone sent a gun back to Glock if so what was the procedure? How long did the repair take?

Glock's turnaround time is pretty quick for something that simple. Please don't go to the expense of shipping your whole pistol; just the slide. You can ship it USPS, Priority Mail, Insured, for under $8.00 or so.

Unless you're talking about a night sight, this might be a good time for you to get Glock to install steel night sights.

My sights are not the night sights but I think your idea of having night sights installed is a good idea.

If you don't want to ship your slide, and you want to install them yourself, give Rick Callahan, @ Ameriglo, a call. They sell several styles of excellent night sights that can be installed without a rear sight pusher. You can easily drive the rear factory sight out with a wooden dowel and hammer. Ameriglo furnishes a front sight tool with their sight sets. I believe they're using Trijicon tubes now, which are excellent.

Glock is generally very good on warranty work. I'd call them 1st and see how the current turn-around time was running. {probably d/n matter for such a simple "fix"} Need to call as they have a specific address they want you to use. Chances are it'll come back with nite sights on it for your trouble and as "good faith". They have always paid S&H return on any pistol have sent to them also.

You know, I'd just call Glock and find an armorer in the area. Factory plastic stock sights are insanely cheap. My armorers manual is a bit old, but they lists the armorer's price as $1 for the front sight. Local PDs are good places to find armorers. Most of these guys are pretty cool and happy to help out if you explain the problem. Might charge you something like $5 to put it back on (takes just a few minutes). Most Glock stocking dealers have an armorer on staff. The cost of the sight just isn't worth shipping the gun back, unless Glock is willing to send you a label on their dime and you can live with losing your gun for about 2 weeks or so.

Night sights are real easy to put on yourself. I've done 4 sets myself (2 Meprolights and 2 Ameriglos). Best place to get Meps, I've found is OMB Police Supply. I just started using Ameriglos. Comes with the nutdriver you need for the front sight (screws in - just put a bit of red loc-tite on the thread, screw it down and make sure it's straight, let it dry). The rear sight on Ameriglos utilizes a set screw. Just knock out the old rear and slide in the new and tighten the set screws (it's a good idea to mark the position of the old rear sight and set your new ones there - should put you close). Go to the range, adjust for any windage discrepancies, then blue loc-tite the set screws. You're done.
