glock 23 issue remains

the slide keeps locking back after every shot on my 23. i am confident it is not my grip, and i changed the slide lock lever and spring. it happens with both of my glock 13 round mags. any other suggestions?

Either send it back to Glock or take it to a good gunsmith and let them look at it. Try a different mag also...

Could also be the ammo 'hanging up' in the mag. Try a different mag and different brand of ammo.

I may suggest having someone else shoot the gun to see if you aren't hitting the slide release by accident. Try someone elses mags. Also make sure the mags are clicking/locking in place. Is this pistol new to you? Try firming up your grip.Are they genuine Glock mags? Just some no cost things to try.

When you say you changed your "slide lock lever and spring" do you mean the slide stop lever and slide lock spring? I'm guessing that's what you mean but just making sure. I've had the slide stop lever bend out (very slightly) away from my G23 frame recently and I was having the same problem as you. I got the new slide stop lever, changed it out and the problem disappeared.

I'd also recommend shooting the gun with one hand and see if it still goes into slide lock.

From what you describe, it sounds like you assembled the weapon wrong when you changed the slide stop. Put the small locking block pin in first, then the slide stop, then the trigger pin.

Sounds like you have the slide stop spring on the top side of the locking block pin, which will put upward pressure on the slide stop. Consequently, the slide will lock to the rear ever time it comes back.

thanks for the replies. i got the gun used at a gun show and have had the problem since the first shot. i will try your suggestions and if no improvements take it to a gunsmith

sound slide your slide stop lever and spring may be installed incorrectly. if the spring is in between the locking block pin, and the locking block--it's in there wrong. it should be under the locking block pin.

Even better means its not something you did. 70% of auto issues are mag related. you eliminated that, both mags same problem, my vote is the guy before you had it apart, got the spring backwards on the stop lever. when i take a gun apart I try to put it back just as I found it. Pre own fixed you up before you ever layed eyes on it.
