What is the advantage of the G24 over the G35 or vice versa? Why does Glock make two guns that are so similar?

I am thinking of buying either the G24 or G35 and am not sure which would be better. It would be for fun at the range.

G24 is not allowed in some competitions.

Both are nice when converted to .357 Sig.

G35 can be used in IPSC, they discontinued the 17L at the same time replacing it with the 34. Retooled those lines for the new slides I guess. Didn't really need 4 competition models, although I do love my 24P. I'd let it go for about $1200 but I'm sure I'd regret it.

Yep. It's easy with a KKM drop in barrel. I did it to my G35. It's very accurate. Just to make sure I wouldn't have a feeding problem I got G31 magazines to use in the G35 when I use the KKM .357SIG barrel. It may work fine with the G35 (.40S&W) magazines but I prefered to get the .357 magazines.

Good luck,
Rich

I believe the 24 and 17L were discontinued because they didn't fit the IPSC Standard box. I understand they are still legal in USPSA Limited. The 34 and 35 also happen to be legal in IDPA.

Neither the G17L nor the G24 have been discontinued. Or why else can they still be found in Glock's newest flyers?

The only Glock that has so far been discontinued is the ported G17LC

I know you can still get 17L and 24 uppers but only a year after I got my I had 3 offers to buy it because no FFL could get them. They may still be available in the European market which would explain why they're still on their site. The .380 Glocks I don't believe are imported either.

If anyone has seen one for sale let me know. I've never seen them for sale in a store, on GunsAmerica, GunBroker, or anywhere else new. Come to think of it I haven't seen any used either.

On Friday I went to a local dealer looking for a G17L and was quoted $550.
I was debating between that and a USP45 for $750.
He called his distributor 10ft from where I stood and quoted the above mentioned prices.
I will verify this with him tomorrow and let you know, it seems he might have screwed this up.

Hey KevlarTester, where are you getting your info? Davidson's doesn't even have a part number for them. If you have a source in the USA please share!

OK,
So I call the gunshop at lunch today to confirm my post.
Yes the USP45 is $750. But the Glock 17C is $550.
He quoted a 17C price not a 17L.
How could someone confuse a C with an L?

Sorry for getting your hopes up. Now I feel like a....
