What are the best methods to conceal a glock 26, 27, or 36 for "fairly deep concealment". I've heard recommendations for ankle carry, pocket carry, bellyband, IWB, thunderware. Am I missing any good ones? The lack of a positive safety is somewhat troubling on the pocket carry and belly band. Is the solution just getting a NY trigger? Could you conceal a 36 IWB without printing with a standard oversized t-shirt? No hawaiian stuff or vests?

thanks,

Use of a Saf-T-Block and Clipdraw works well for holsterless IWB (though you'll start hearing arguments against such a carry method below).

To a large extent this depends on your build and exactly where you carry the gun. Some people can hide them under a T-shirt/polo shirt and some need the greater coverage of a Hawaiian type shirt.

My preference for the G36 was the Sidearmor IWB. For my build a T-shirt would work as long as I didn't bend over. It would print if it did. An oversized cotton shirt in a dark print worked fine but it sounds like you don't want to go there. Your choice.

whats your build like dave?
I'm fairly skinny. Not skunkabilly skinny, just fairly skinny :)

If you're skinny...

I'm 6'0" and about 145 pounds. That said, I don't have any trouble concealing my Glock 23 under a loose T-shirt using a Fobus paddle holster. If you don't have that much empty space around your waist then the button down shirt over the top might be necessary. Depends on your builds...

Dude, you know me and I'm pretty skinny too; but a G30 disappears on me in a IWB holster.

Why the G36? Does it just fit you better that a 30?

The lack of a positive safety is somewhat troubling on the pocket carry and belly band

I wouldn't worry about this too much. Seriously, after carrying a G23 and then a G30 since 1994, it's never been an issue. Finger off trigger- gun no go bang.

Your brain is your most positive safety, as it should always be!!

That said...

  • I pocket carry my G26 in a Galco PH288.

    I ankle carry in a Fobus GL-4.

I IWB carry in a Predator Kydex ( www.predatorholsters.com ) covered with a loose t-shirt. (1 to 2 sizes larger than you normally wear.)

Strong side belt carry calls for a Bianchi Black Widow.

The same set of holsters also fit my Glock 36.

I don't do belly bands!!!

Carry a G36 IWB in a FIST #1 Kydex w\slight cant at 3:30-4:00, no problems printing. My primary casual dress is shorts, tshirt and sandals. If my wife and I are going out, it's jeans, tshirt or button down short sleeve untucked. I've carried my G19 and my P229 the same way w\minimal printing from the butt of the receiver.

All the subcompacts are good. The 9mm has 10 round stock mags and training ammo can be really cheap. The .40 works well and shoots bigger faster bullets. The .357 Sig is expensive, the bottleneck cases may need trimming if you reload them, and the ballistics should be pretty good.

I've seen some folks use ankle holsters for their G27, and I like Kydex IWB.

Atek, you mentioned that you were going to ditch the .40 and go .45? Does this stand for your Glock or did you want your BUG in a minor caliber?
