Glock 26 & 39 Guide Rod Mixup

So I brought the 26 and 39 out to the range yesterday and started cleaning them at the same time. When I went to put them back together I was not sure which guide rod went with which pistol. They are both the same length and I can't tell a difference in the tension (I would think the 39 would have a stiffer spring).

Only difference I can tell is that the piece back circular end piece of the guide rod that presses on the barrel when in place. One of them is metal and the other is plastic.

Any ideas on which one goes with which?

I can call Glock customer service but they are not open and I prefer to have it put together correctly.

One good thing, I learned to clean the Glock's one at a time.

Glock subcompact models G26-G27-G33 & G-39 use the same recoil spring/guide rod assembly (Glock Part # SP02211, silver springs).

I haven't ordered any new ones recently, but I've heard the latest ones have a riveted base instead of the previous flat 1-piece base/rod. Are one of your subcompacts fairly new? If so, you might've gotten one of the newer recoil spring assemblies in that one.

fastbolt, thanks for the info. They both seem identical besides the riveted base you mentioned is on one instead of the plastic

They are both fairly new being bought within the past 6 months or so (the 39 was probably on the shelf longer than the 26).

I would have thought a .45 GAP would require a stiffer spring than a 9mm due to more recoil.

They do seem the same though which would be nice just in case one failed.

That's strange, I just got a glock 19 and it has the new slide finish people were talking about (rough texture) which I like but it doesn't have the riveted base on the guide rod, it's plastic. Wonder if the guide rod is an even newer change.

The riveted base spring assemblies to which I referred were for the subcompact 9/40/357/45GAP, not the compact or full-size models. Last I saw they were the same (plastic rods/bases) as always in the compact & full-size models.
