Glock 26. Should I?

The G26 is a great, reliable little gun. No lead bullets, though: the polygonal rifling Glock uses doesn't play well with lead. You can get a Lone Wolf drop-in barrel with conventional rifling to shoot lead out of, though.

Id buy one, every colection needs a Glock and if you dont like it there not hard to get rid of.I carry a 27 every day,I bought the glock for summer carry to keep the sweat off my 1911's and some how it it gravitated to my all the time carry.I own 3 Kahrs several 1911's,snubies,keltecs and others Glocks.
My 27 gets the nod 90% of the time.
Get a good holster and belt and give it a month and it wont seem as fat as it does at the start.

The Glock looks like a Glock. Blocky and no frills, but it has clean lines and a balanced look. The Rohrbaugh guns and also the Sig 238 just don't look balanced to me. The angles just seem to be weird.

I plan on stopping my a local gun shop to fondled a few today. Hopefully they have some options as well as the G26.

Well, I just went to the LGS and fondled some different guns. I fondled the Glock 26, but it was too thick for my liking for an EDC (especially in dress pants). Same with the M&P compact. I tried the Ruger LC9 and it was much better in terms of weight and comfort. Very slim and easy to conceal. The bad part was the trigger. I thought it was terrible. What I didn't imagine I would like is the Sig 238. I was very impressed with the fit and finish on that gun. Racking the slide and manipulating the controls gives the impression that it's very high quality and made very well. Size is great, but I'm still on the fence with the caliber.

One small confession, I had my name put on the waiting list for a Kimber Solo AFA. The shop got 4 in a few weeks ago and they are selling them for $640. Hard to beat that price and maybe this way I will get to at least fondle one before I buy.

I prefer glocks to all other sub compacts that I have shot. Somebody said earlier that its the smallest real gun you can get, and I'm inclined to agree. You don't really sacrifice much with the small size, but it's going to take some experimenting to get it concealed just right.

My glock 27 is one of my favorite guns, not just for carry. I vote yes!

With all the talk about the various smaller 9's, I can't believe noone has mentioned the PM9.
The OP said later (post #8) that he doesn't like Kahrs.

I have both a G26 and an LCP. The G26 is my primary, and the LCP only goes with me when I have to tuck in my pants or when I go bicycling. Normal mode of carrying the G26 is IWB at 3:30 (I don't use pinkie extensions, but I do use the GAP floorplate), G17 mag as a reload in my front weakside pocket, and an untucked shirt. Virtually unnoticeable. I simply can't pocket-carry the G26...but it's my go-to carry weapon 95% of the time. Even if the wife and I are going out, I'll just wear a nice button-down shirt that's designed to be untucked.

I have a Kahr PM9, but it basically sits in the safe now...not quite small enough for pocket carry for me (I'm 6'0", 175 lbs, 33" waist), and if I'm going to IWB carry, I might as well just carry the G26.

It sounds like you have made up your mind with the Solo. They are really new and outside of a few articles, I don't know much about them. There was an article in G & A last month. I saw an article this morning in one of the gun magazines, but outside of browsing the covers, I didn't stop.

WOW really useless post. Sorry about that.

I wear dress pants a majority of the time, so something that could be pocket carried would be the best. I can bring out the bigger guns on the weekend when the wardrobe will allow.

The Kahr PM9 (top) is a true pocket gun. 6+1, but mine hasn't been as reliable as the Glock.

The .38 Airweght (middle) is small and easy to carry, but holds only 5 rnds and is thicker than the Glock.

The G26 (bottom) is a compromise. It is a little big for all pocket carry, but some pockets OK. It holds 10+1.

The Glock is too big and thick to carry in pockets of dress pants. So is the J-Frame. And I don't care for the Kahr guns.

Sounds like you've answered your Glock question. Time to find something else.

I have and enjoy the G26, great gun. That being said my love for food doesn't leave a lot of IWB space. I found the Kahr CM9/PM9 fits more easily IWB and the recoil isn't bad at all.

A S&W hammerless J Frame in a Don Hume 001 (or similar) leather pocket holster is one of the easiest guns to pocket carry in my experience. Holster selection is critical.

The GLOCK 26 is a great gun. I stand behind what everyone else in this thread has said about it. I own 2 gen 3's myself. :)

The question wasn't if the G26 was a good gun or not. The question was whether or not the G26 is a good pocket gun. I think the OP, Olympus, has answered the latter for himself.

So of all the other people that previously posted something along the lines of the G26 being "a great gun," (I count at least 5) why did you decide to single me out and attempt to "correct" me? Is there something I wrote that offended you that wasn't previously mentioned by those other members? I'm well aware of what the OP wrote and I'm also well aware of what the thread is about. My comment was to substantiate the OP's decision and urge to want to buy the gun; I was merely trying to add to the persuasion to push him in that direction. Don't bark up someone else's tree before checking yourself.

ChCx2744, I quoted your comment because your use of "everyone else" incorporated your, and all the other comments about the G26 being great without addressing the OP's question of would the G26 would be good for the stated purpose. It wasn't directed against you personally, nor even specifically. If was addressing you specifically I would've used your user name as I have in this reply. If I wanted to address you personally I would've sent a private message. I'm sorry you misinterpreted my comment, and felt admonished & insulted.

I carried a G26 for almost a year and got rid of it, didn't like the grip angle and trigger that much, finally decided enough was enough for it and sold it.

I think what ugaarguy was meaning is that all of the previous comments happened before I went to the LGS and handled a G26 and decided that it was not different enough from my SR9c to meet my needs. I don't think you were intended to be singled out.

If you want something for pocket carry, get a J-Frame, LCP, TCP, something like that.

Have you tried carrying IWB or with a hip holster and cover garment? I usually carry a full sized SR9 at 4 Oclock, no problems.

Good luck,

Chris "the Kayak-Man" Johnson

I can carry the SR9c just fine wearing street clothes. That's not the problem. Statistically speaking, I spend the majority of my week in business casual attire. Khakis, dress pants, etc. It's difficult to wear the SR9c in an IWB holster in those kind of pants, especially since those are not as loose fitting as my jeans. And it would probably be just as expensive to buy all new bigger waist pants to accommodate the SR9c as it would be to just buy a pocket gun. I've been going without a pistol during the workday and just carrying a knife. Looking to solve that problem.

But I guess I should go ahead and confess that I ended up buying a Sig P238 this morning. :D Out of all the pocket pistols I fondled at the LGS, the Sig was the one that just "spoke" to me. Probably because it feels so similar to a 1911 and that's what I primarily shoot. So I ended up getting the plain black Nitron version with the night sights and cheap black plastic grips. I've already combed through my wood supply and found some nice pieces to make a new set of grips for it. The one I got was $50 cheaper than the same version with the rosewood grips. I definitely liked the look of the rosewood grips on the all black gun, but I can do better than Sig can for grips and it won't cost me anything. :D

Pics to follow later this weekend probably.
