What do folks think about the Glock 30 in terms of reliability, accuracy, and ease of carry? Has anyone switched from a 26/19 to the 30 or the other way around?

The Glock 30 I had a few years ago was accurate, rugged, and reliable. Svelte they ain't. About 2 months ago, I bought a Glock 30SF that was made after the short frame problems had allegedly all been fixed. It was amazingly accurate but the slide wouldn't completely return to battery until the trigger was moved all the way forward. Have never seen a gun do that. And this was after Glock supposedly fixed the 30SF problems with their new trigger something or other. So with the understanding that 30's and 30SF's are different beasts, I'd give a thumbs up to the 30.

I carry a G26. A few weeks ago I bought a G30. I figure to work it into winter carry. Living in Phoenix I think its going to be too big for summer carry. Well, that is not accurate, I could carry it in the summer but don't want to.

I love mine, and have no problem concealing it at all. I like the 10rd mags and the ability to use 13rd G21 mags. It is incredably accurate...Really, a pistol that goes from CCW to HD to woods pistol, and does it all well.
Murphster, you should go on Glocktalk, about your G30SF problem...I think the guys there can help you.

I spent years looking for the right handgun. The G30 entered my life and the look is over. It is about the same size as a 19/23 with the 10 round extended mag in.

The accuracy blows me away. This little G30 shoots as accurate as my Colt 1911. And better on some days but, never worse.

I use mine for ccw and truck, HD and woods gun. I like it so much I am getting another one in July. :D

Everyone has to find what is right for themselves and for me the G30 cancelled my search. I found it.

I have a Gen2.5 Glock 30.
Have about 3000 rounds through it with no stoppages/malfunctions.
It's a great compact sized pistol.
Accurate and reliable.

But last couple of years, for summer carry, I have replaced it with a Glock 39. The Glock 39 is lighter, smaller and conceals better when wearing shorts/t-shirt.

I love mine...The G30's reliability is second to none. The pistol fires when the trigger is pulled, period. I outfitted mine with a 3.5lbs. connector, springs and XS Big Dot sights, it is a seriously good shooter.
I use it as an HD/night stand gun. For my tastes the G30 is too bulky and heavy for EDC. I've done it, but I don't like it.....Take my carry opinion with a gain of salt...I feel the G26/27s are to big for EDC ;)

I shot one that a range mate had. It pinched my pinky between the magazine and grip. Other than that it was fine. Typical Glock. Reliable, but pretty boring.

These aren't merely tools for me, so I need something that demands my appreciation in one way or the other.

I bought one with night sights hoping to make it my main CCW, but it was too fat and blocky, and it had too many failures to feed. I think they were break-in issues, because they mostly went away after a couple hundred rounds, but I still lost confidence in it, and sold it. It shot very nicely though, and was plenty accurate. I now carry a G23, when possible. The slightly slimmer slide makes a pretty big difference to me, but YMMV.

I bought a G30 2 years ago. It is 100% reliable and easy (for me) to carry. I like the size so much I bought a G29SF in 10mm. It's hard to decide which one to carry. I can even put the G30 slide on the frame so I can travel with 2 calibers. I have a 10mm to 40 conversion barrel so I can actually carry 3 calibers when I travel

It is the perfect handgun IMHO.

Ys I like the big assed thing! It is about the same size as the G19 so it's actually pretty easy to ccw. Very accurate. In fact it will but some megabucked guns to shame. Got all the things going for it we love about Glocks. Tennifer, polymer, after market parts and such. It just feels like a 2x4 in the hand. But doesn't stop me from shooting it well. Very well in fact. A very comforting friends on cold dark nights. 10+1 rounds of Winchester Ranger 230gr. +P bullets and a G21 back up mag of 13 more rounds is hard to beat. Try the SF version. Some people find it helps. For me it didn't make enough difference to trade in "Old Faithfull". AKA "Old Ugly" in a good kind of way.

my glock 30 with a crimson trace laser grip stays by my bed while I sleep....... that translates into: "Yes.... I like it!"

I really like my G30. I'll carry it over the G36. Very accurate and easy to conceal plus I carry an extra 13rd G21 mag as a spare.

It's thick but it's manageable if you want to carry it concealed. It's okay in a thin Kydex IWB holster as long as your pants aren't too tight.

I've had one for a couple of years and like it a lot. I don't shoot it as much as I do my 9mm handguns because the ammo costs so much more. Since I have more experience with the 9mm's, those are the ones I carry--mostly a Glock 26.

The Glock 30 is very accurate and totally reliable. The only time I've had any failures with it were ammunition based (it apparently doesn't like the hard primers used in Fiocchi ammo) and user-induced (unintentional limp-wristing).

I tried both the standard G30 and the G30 SF when I bought mine. I couldn't tell any practical difference in the way they fit my hand so I went with the older model with the longer history of reliability. Like all Generation 3 Glocks, I've taken a Dremel and removed the high points of the finger grooves. This improves handling tremendously in my opinion.

i love my G30. i carry it in a crossbreed supertuck holster. its very accurate and very, very reliable 1500 rounds through it no malfunctions. i also love my G26 and G19 i carry both of those in a wild bill concealmeant holster. Both of these guns are accurate and the G19 is probly the most fun to shoot . Alot of guns have come and gone in my collection but the glocks have come and STAYED! i've never had a malfunction with the 26,27,19,22 or 30 the 30 also doubles as my nightstand gun so for me personally its a "do it all gun"

Absolutely! I've never carried mine, but it performs wonderfully at the range, and makes it's home in my truck. It had a 3.5lb connector in it when I got it, and I found it a little too jumpy. I swapped in a stock 5.5lb one and thought it was perfect for that little guy. The accuracy surprised me in such a compact package. Two big thumbs up.
