Most likely these were being bought (and sold) for those interested in trying out the Glock 30/36 Hybrid.
The Hybrid is a fairly new concept that was discovered within the last, 5 years or so?, that mates the G30 frame with the G36 upper (slide, barrel, recoil spring assy, etc.) to create an 'unofficial' new model that combines the best of both worlds.
You get the lighter weight, slimmer slide of the 36 with the higher capacity, better recoil absorbing properties of the wide 30 frame in a package that fits most G36/G19 size holsters.
By all accounts the Hybrid shoots as well as the original G30, (which is outstanding in my opinion) yet carries almost as well as the 36 with 4 additional rounds.
Pretty sweet discovery if you ask me. I've owned and highly revered my 36 for about 5 years or so now and my only complaint (if there ever was any) was the low round count (which is really a non-issue with 7-8 rounds of .45) and the extra recoil/muzzle rise of the very thin, light .45acp (only an issue for quick, accurate follow ups). Accuracy was always 'pretty good,' but not nearly as effortless as with the tack-driver 30.
So, take that very gun, make it handle like the freak of nature 30 and throw a few more rounds in the mix?
Why the H377 not?!! -I mean if you already own one of the two models, anyway.
I was dead-set on a new Gen 4 G21, but since they're WAY behind on getting em out and addressing the backorders AND because I've always loved how amazingly accurate and easy to handle the 30 is, I'll be picking up my new 30sf on Wed and trying this little concoction out for myself shortly thereafter.
Interesting note: there was talk on another thread about a Glock Rep that carries the 30sf/36 Hybrid as his EDC and has lobbied to get Glock to make an official model for this Hybrid. To date, there has been nothing stated officially from Glock on this topic.
Hope this info was helpful to anyone interested and, as always, feel free to correct me where needed.
