What should I do?

So, I bought a P80 frame kit for the purpose of building a G23 with an OD frame and optics ready.

I already had a Gen 4 G23 that I liked, but thought that the P80 build would be fun and I'd end up with a cool, reliable Glock-based pistol with a red dot.

I did not.

First range trip, the frame cracked and it went full-auto. So, I have a worthless lower with some salvageable parts and a very nice custom upper that only fits a Gen 3 G23 frame.

Added a poll to get folks' opinion.

Leaning towards getting a whole new custom slide and selling the Gen 3 slide.

The reason being that I love the trigger and grip feel of my Gen 4 G23, but also loved the look of the custom slide. Plus, I specified the wrong RMR cut for the optic I really wanted, so if I kept the current custom slide, I'd have to compromise on the optic, anyway.

Cheapest would be to just get the OEM Gen 4 slide cut for the optic I want.

The Crack happened near the locking lug and the cruciform engagement is what controls the trigger.unless your tolerances are so out of whack it destroyed both interfaces I don't see how they are related.

Buy an OEM a frame, have it Cerakoted OD, and you’re set.

I had to do the same thing and buy a Gen 3 17 lower when I found out Ca DOJ will not issue a serial number to a home-built handgun frame, and you must have a serial number on the frame to avoid arrest/jail here. :( The lower i picked up is Cerakoted FDE to match the desert camo of the slide I bought. (Should be all together this week.)

Stay safe.

Get an original Glock Gen3 frame or a fully ready frame from another manufacturer. There are also some aluminium alloy, stainless steel and even titanium frames for Glock, to try. Maybe it's a good excuse to get one :D

Well, I'd start by selling the slide. Then use that money toward a 1911 in .45. Then I'd melt down all that plastic you have left over from your frames and form a nice case for my steel gun. :neener:

Hey, someone has to be the class clown.
Might as well be me.

Why don’t you call Polymer80 and see if they will replace the frame. Then you could sell the parts with the new uncut frame and spend the money on what you want.

Well my vote just made it a 5-way tie. I think you had a vision in mind that is attainable, things got sideways, and despite the cost you ought to end up with what you really wanted (even if that has changed).

Sell the slide, get a replacement frame (if it’s free under warranty), sell that, buy a Gen 4 and have it milled for the FastFire4 that works for your eyes, and enjoy it.
